This engine is not a common rail diesel. If they "did" them at 100,000 they probably just put a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. Otherwise you would certainly have remembered the cost.

It's not just 1st gear fnq, its pretty much any gear when standing still.

It's bloody annoying when the lights change and you sit there trying to jam it into 1st and the car behind you is blasting his horn........

Positive Crankcase Ventilation System. There is a hose between the PCV valve on the rocker cover and the air inlet hose. They all have a bit of oil in the hose there. Don't worry about it. It is likely to come from the PCV system rather than the turbo.

I have heard any between 1999 and end of 2002 may be prone to this. I think it is not so much a manufacturing defect than a design issue. These boxes have been around since the early 4.2's and those engines only had about 250nm of torque. The 3.0 has around 350nm and so do the turbo 4.2's, so ...

My book says 15,000 for the 3.0, and there is no mention that Australia was different. Come to think of it... manufacturers are slowly getting away from saying "Made for Australian conditions" because it's mainly B.S.
There are no kinder conditions for cars than here.... no extreme ...

The 5000 is for the 4.2.
(that is 2001 book)

If it is just sticking in 5th, check the colour of the oil. It maybe the dreaded 5th gear spline issue. The oil will be quite dark, bit like coffee colour, also will be quite smelly.
Mine started out that way, i.e. sticking in 5th after driving for a while. Ended up with new gearbox.
