Hi,

This engine is not a common rail diesel. If they "did" them at 100,000 they probably just put a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank. Otherwise you would certainly have remembered the cost.

Hi, Some unkind souls would say that the donk doesn't last long enough for it to ever become and issue....... However (I own one too), I have read somewhere that those high pressure injector thingys should go for at least 150,000 and they are not serviceable, so must be replaced when dodgy. At a ...

It's not just 1st gear fnq, its pretty much any gear when standing still. It's bloody annoying when the lights change and you sit there trying to jam it into 1st and the car behind you is blasting his horn........ The only way to prevent it is by leaving your foot on the clutch. It's something that ...

Hi.... Yes, get it checked out by all means. I just had a look at mine, it is a Feb 2001 and has done just over 60,000. There is also a bit of oil seeping out of that spot. I am quite paranoid too about things with the car or truck. Came from years of driving old bombs in my younger days. You get to ...

Hi.. I think you worry too much.
That puff of smoke is probably normal too.
When I said you will really know about it when that bearing goes, I meant it. It will be a cloud, not a puff!

Positive Crankcase Ventilation System. There is a hose between the PCV valve on the rocker cover and the air inlet hose. Some oil always seems to find it's way through there and also ends up in the intercooler. They all do that, even the 2.8 I had before always had a bit of oil in the intercooler ...

Hi,
They all have a bit of oil in the hose there. Don't worry about it. It is likely to come from the PCV system rather than the turbo.

Hi.... I have heard any between 1999 and end of 2002 may be prone to this. I think it is not so much a manufacturing defect than a design issue. These boxes have been around since the early 4.2's and those engines only had about 250nm of torque. The 3.0 has around 350nm and so do the turbo 4.2's, so ...

Well.... I guess the stress of driving at very high speeds would be similar than what you describe. It is interesting to note that the ZD30 sold in europe has a water cooled heat exchanger fitted between the exhaust and the EGR valve. Presumably to lower the temperature of the exhaust gas before it ...

You must go round in circles a lot! Tell me which major centres are 1000's of k apart with nothing in between? Expept for the Nullabour perhaps. And I would think 99% of cars sold here never cross it anyway! You can certainly go 1000k in europe without getting off the freeway and do 150 clicks much ...

Well, Roly... My book says 15,000 for the 3.0, and there is no mention that Australia was different. Come to think of it... manufacturers are slowly getting away from saying "Made for Australian conditions" because it's mainly B.S. There are no kinder conditions for cars than here.... no extreme ...

If it is just sticking in 5th, check the colour of the oil. It maybe the dreaded 5th gear spline issue. The oil will be quite dark, bit like coffee colour, also will be quite smelly.
Mine started out that way, i.e. sticking in 5th after driving for a while. Ended up with new gearbox.
