Correct spooling method for synthetic ropes???

I've been reading some information about syntehtic ropes, but i can't find information on the best way to spool it. What is the best way? Spool it neatly like a wire rope, or spool in a cross pattern to prevent the upper layers to get stuck in the lower layers? How much 10mm dyneema do you recommend ...

Doubts on Warn 8274 High Mount

Hi everyone... I will probably buy this used Warn 8274 winch. the owner says it's a model from 2000. The freespool handle is not original, and he says it was rebuilt by the distributor on 2003. Is this an 8274 or an 8274-50?? Is the motor the 2.5HP or the 4.6HP version is it a good idea to remove ...

Hi One of the blue lines is just the diff breather. The brakes lines are just covered by the same blue plastic lines to protect it from rubbing on something... or just because i had some more meters of spare line :D All the supports for the springs and control arms at the frame side are from the RR ...

Do you have aymore info of your diffs and susp? The axles are the stock ones, the rear diff is welded, and i have an ARB in the front axle. The suspension is from a Range Rover, but it's the same as the Defender's and Discovery's. Other mods, are: disc brakes on all 4 wheels, turbo and intercooler ...

Might be difficult to mount the Watts linkage setup on top of the diff and still have clearance for top links? I don't think so. The Watt's link design is very compact, when compared to an A-frame design! On my BJ40, in order to install an A-frame, i had to remove the fuel tank from it's original ...

I don't like the idea of the Watts linkage in the rear of rear axle because of the ground clearance issues. In my opinion, the best way to install a Watts linkage for offroad use, is to install it horizontally on the top of the axle, instead of installing it on the bottom like the following pics ...

Just for reference, on the Dakar, almost everyone uses BF MT's.... and they drive fast, over every type of terrain: very soft sand and very hard terrain with lots of stones on the ground!

York Compressor on a B/3B toyota engine. Anyone?

I would like to install a York air compressor on my BJ40.
I have the alternator and power steering pump installed on the right side of the engine.
Does anyone have pictures of instalation on a B or 3B engine?
Would apreciate some pics or opinions about the instalation.
Thanks

maybe the "gearbox" is full of grease! if there's to much grease on the inside, it will be very hard to freespool!
Just check it and then tell what was the problem.
Good luck.

You can remove the metal plate bolted to the gearbox, and with that mod, you can drive on 4x2 and 4x4 in both HI and LO range!

I've got a set of 35x10,5x16 "Fedima Sirocco" remoulds made in Portugal (Extreme Trekker copy) for EUR125 = AUS$205 each. But shipping to Australia should be very expensive! Have a welded rear diff and an ARB up front on my 40 with 37' tyres for more than a year and it's holding great. Great offroad, and on the road i think it's more predictable than a Detroit (which I have in another 40). The only downside I point is tyre wear, but not a problem as i almost only use it ...

By the pictures it seems like tubular webbing used for climbing/caving anchor points. it's available in various widths like 1 inch, 1/2 inch.... You can get it on every sports store where you can get climbing/caving equipment, or on ebay. Watch this link http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll ...

I think with this system you can equalize the pressure inside and outside of the diff. This way you dont blow the seals and it keeps water on the outside!
I think it should work, but not 100% sure.

Don´t know if you have an intercooler, but if you have, don't forget to get the water out of it! I saw too many people forgeting doing this!!
I think you will have no problems with that... dry it, prime the fuel and you are back to the trails!

Good luck for you!

BJ40 Sliders

Hi All

Can you post some pics of rock sliders on 40 series? I've tried the search function but i have only got 1 or 2 results with pics.
I need to get some ideas in order to build some sliders for my coil sprung 40!

Thanks
