Re: Whats This Worth???
Ha ha - I love the item description. Watch for him listing a V8 disco in coming weeks - I don't think he'll find the v8 tows his boat much better! And yes, the diesels have always commanded a much higher price than the V8s - they use about 40% less fuel, which I suspect has a lot to do with it ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.
I have the timing set at 5 degrees ATDC as the plate states in the engine bay, well at least i think its at 5 degrees. Leaving the oil pump aside - ATDC? That would suggest AFTER top dead centre to me, which is wrong - should be BEFORE top dead centre (I run at least 8 degrees advance too, but 5 ...

Re: Disco 2 - CDL
I am gutted. That scratches late '01 to to '03 from my plans. Gunna need another plan. Or another Disco2 LT230. Doesn't have to be out of a Disco 2, it is possible to swap just the centre diff unit from an disco 1 unit into a Disco 2. Did this very conversion on my old mans D2, basically just ...

Re: Disco 2 - CDL
The late 01 until the MY03 facelift were the ones missing the CDL mechanism. The 99 though early 01 all had CDL, but no lever to activate it - this is an easy retrofit. All Disco2's are constant 4x4 via a open centre diff in the LT230 transfer case. The 02's should be rectangular headlights. The ...

Re: laminating diffs!!!
Are there any issues post welding like having to straightening or normalising once the diff housing is laminated? I imagine most of the external bracing is biased to one side. Short answer yes, long answer - shouldn't be any big issues if the guy doing the welding knows how to approach it ...

Re: Transmission Oils
From my research so far, i have come up with the conclusion that I'm going to use 75w85 in the LT77 as it will be doing some light duty towing with my trailer and SJ413 on the back, ATF in the T.Case and 80w90 for the Diff's, Does that sound right?? The only one I might be inclined to disagree on ...

hi all, the brother and i are fitting his 3.9 litre into an early range rover and need to buy an in line fuel pump, does anyone know the pressure we need or even a good pump thats proven itself. regards, simon You want a Bosch 070 fuel pump (full part number 0 580 464 070) - generic replacement for ...

The hard part is getting hold of the seats. Ideally you'd want to get hold of the 7 seater rear side trims (the ones where your cargo buckets currently are) along with the seats and all their paraphernalia, unless you can find someone local to you who has a template made up to cut the required holes ...

Good stuff, perhaps a bit exxy but perhaps not. When you've got a motor that needs the distributor to drive the oil pump, what's the usual go? It seems a bit crap to put all the EDIS/Megajolt gear in and still have a dizzy sticking out. Would it be a big job to cut it down to make a sort of flat ...

It CAN be done.... But most people who attempt to do it at home end up going for a reco box changeover. Problem is that half the bits inside are probably flogged out...... Re: 255 55 18 tyres
i was talking the highway pattern on an 18 inch rim. a friend of mine from a tyre shop said they used to stock them but found the road noise was shocking and got a few complaints and when they asked coopers they said it was the cars fault. however my mum inlaw runs STT 33s and they seem fine. so i ...

Re: 255 55 18 tyres
was told generals and coopers where noisy and didnt last long. Not my experience with coopers.... My old man runs Cooper ATRs (or whatever they call them now) on his D2 (on 16 inch rims), and gets around 60,000km out of them. Considering he does 200km a week of 100km/h (+ :P) sharp crushed rock ...

Could be one of the two wires inside the dizzy, which go to the pickup itself. (usually under the plastic cover below the rotor button). These have a habit of breaking inside the insulation due to the advance plate in the distributor moving them back and forward all the time. Causes intermittent no ...

The injectors was the standard Lucas black/green 1-hole ones. I've changed them to Bosch 4-hole types but it made no difference. From memory standard Rover efi systems seem not to run much different with no exhaust past the manifolds, probably due to running off the AFM. I don't think lack of backpressure is the problem in this case. On my alfa V6, removing the exhaust past the 2 downpipes makes it run extremely lean, and ...

As you said yourself, leave your front steering arm alone, and carry a piece of waterpipe in the back to straighten it back out so you can go home. The impact through steering boxes is supposed to bugger them over time... With maxi axles and lockers and strengthened CVs, I'd take a guess that the ...
