Re: Whats This Worth???

Ha ha - I love the item description. Watch for him listing a V8 disco in coming weeks - I don't think he'll find the v8 tows his boat much better! And yes, the diesels have always commanded a much higher price than the V8s - they use about 40% less fuel, which I suspect has a lot to do with it ...

Re: timing issues for my 3.5L help.

I have the timing set at 5 degrees ATDC as the plate states in the engine bay, well at least i think its at 5 degrees. Leaving the oil pump aside - ATDC? That would suggest AFTER top dead centre to me, which is wrong - should be BEFORE top dead centre (I run at least 8 degrees advance too, but 5 ...

I am gutted. That scratches late '01 to to '03 from my plans. Gunna need another plan. Or another Disco2 LT230. Doesn't have to be out of a Disco 2, it is possible to swap just the centre diff unit from an disco 1 unit into a Disco 2. Did this very conversion on my old mans D2, basically just ...

Re: Disco 2 - CDL

The late 01 until the MY03 facelift were the ones missing the CDL mechanism. The 99 though early 01 all had CDL, but no lever to activate it - this is an easy retrofit. All Disco2's are constant 4x4 via a open centre diff in the LT230 transfer case. The 02's should be rectangular headlights. The ...

Re: laminating diffs!!!

Are there any issues post welding like having to straightening or normalising once the diff housing is laminated? I imagine most of the external bracing is biased to one side. Short answer yes, long answer - shouldn't be any big issues if the guy doing the welding knows how to approach it ...

My guess is your rear diff has blown up in some way thats caused the two wheels to lock together, making it act like a welded diff. Don't have a rear locker (ARB/Maxi/McNamara) fitted that has perhaps failed to disengage, do you? The fact that you get understeer first and then oversteer is what ...

From my research so far, i have come up with the conclusion that I'm going to use 75w85 in the LT77 as it will be doing some light duty towing with my trailer and SJ413 on the back, ATF in the T.Case and 80w90 for the Diff's, Does that sound right?? The hard part is getting hold of the seats. From memory standard Rover efi systems seem not to run much different with no exhaust past the manifolds, probably due to running off the AFM. I don't think lack of backpressure is the problem in this case. On my alfa V6, removing the exhaust past the 2 downpipes makes it run extremely lean, and ...

yep. Use a fan spanner. Which is a spanner 32 or 36mm depending on which fan you have, that you hit the end of with a hammer. You don't hit it sideways though, you hit the end of the spanner in such a way that the force is transmitted straight down through the spanner into the fan, but slightly ...
