Not a good way to see a rangie hope ya missus and any one else in the rangie are ok .
Id stick with doin up the 4.4 over using the 3.9 not saying the 3.9 is a bad thing its just the tourqe from the 4.4 with a good cam is lots better keep the layland heads on it too they have better ports and bigger ...

Just sounds like the differential action , im thinking lock off ,
you will get two out of three turning probly oppisite directions , lock on all three turning same directions ----
this is right the center diff is doing its job as for back lash it can be sort of fixed tho is not needed just put it ...

I did a crane fire ball 3000 conversion from a points dizzy and it works great even with after market dizzy cap and rotor it keeps the vac advance just replace the points with the pick up and fit the chopper disc over the shaft line up the sensor fit the cap set the timing and forget .

Sounds like you need to get the high range gear set from a county spec LT95 it will swap straight in to your box and can be done in situ under the rangie .
Your box could have either .996 to 1 or 1.1 to 1 high range if you swap to the county 1.4 to 1 problem solved :D

Mate its a suck it and see affair id play around and try different pressures both front and rear maby if its got a bit of weight on board and its rear end is heavy you could still keep the 25psi in the rear and try 18 up front as ive found that seting the pressure to suit the load is best for sand ...

Well after 2 days of removing parts the engin is now just about ready for removal .
We had to remove the front bar and all goodies attached to it then all the front plastic and front apron panel,headlight assy's,A/C condenser then the 2 battery boxes and the rad what a bloody mission .
