While were on the subject, do you guys know if a 79 series rear diff will fit into a MWB BJ74, or both diffs for that matter? (rear dics brakes)

Is the oil the right colour? and not using excessive amounts? if so clean out your hole cooling system! block, radiator and heater core!

You can re bush them, don't bother buying a new one, really easy to change, a bit fiddly to re bush.

But how old is the 4.0 V6 in there at the moment? its a good motor!

I'm living in London at the moment, and am very surprised that about 90% of the cars you see driving around are diesel! strange to here a little hatch back pull up and hear the diesel noise

Love the 4runner, mine was a 1992 SR5 V6 LTD, owned it for 8 years and never had any major problems. Can highly recommend them.

is the heater on HOT, could it be water flowing through the heater core under the dashboard
