Re: Aquired a HJ61RG, found some 'isses' on way home.

Tighten the two or three long bolts in the region of the oil leak. From memory, there are two bolts that join the transfer case to the gearbox up the top, and go through the fifth gear housing. Mine worked lose several times and oil goes everywhere. If you drop the gearbox support beam, and let the ...

Re: Timing Chain Rattle on 12HT or Other Problem?

Graeme, whats is the cause of the piston problems in 12HTs? Is it because the top ring is to close to the top of the pistion exposing the ring groove to a harsher enviroment? To the OP dont jump to conclusions and start ripping it apart, investigate it properly, could a bore scope be used through ...

Try my write up for starters

You don't adjust the the boost compensator.

'Fuel mixture' is a term used for petrol engines. Have a read, you'll get the drift.

Re: Bolt on turbo upgrdae - 13BT/12HT/1HDT and 1HDFT

The vehicle that was the test bed for the first of these turbos is my 12H-T. I've now fitted a 600mm intercooler and over the next few weeks, will have another Dyno run. My blog with photos of the intercooler installation on an HJ61 with four headlight is at http://www.peoplehelp.com.au/landcruiser ...

Do you stil get around the average fuel economy mate? Kind of. Fuel consumption has never been terrific with this engine, never got the 10km/l I hear about from others. My average has always been around 7 km/l and it hasn't changed with the turbo, which I assume the question is about. The engine ...

12h-t doesn't have a fuel cut off solenoid. I did three turns, but the real test is smoke. Keep turning it until you get smoke under power, then back it off a bit. (provided your injectors are good) Increasing boost will assist EGT's getting too high, but it's all a bit of a balancing act. http://www.perth4x4.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28202 ...

i find it funny how people always relate EGT's with high Boost pressure. EGT's are related to fuel mix You can increase your boost to lower your EGT's people... Of course we relate high EGT and high boost - if you've got your foot on the floor and going up a long hill, both will rise. But yes I ...

The pickup is covered in a plastic filter. It's unlikely to block up but I agree with the idea of blowing it back just to make sure. Then you have fun pumping fuel up from the tank again. Have you screwed down your primer pump properly, it might be drawing air if not screwed down. Is there a little ...

Hi,

I run a CT26 in my 12HT. Not sure why you would want to muck around with adjusting the waste gate springs, when a needle valve boost controller does the trick. A little fiddly to get right, but it's an effective way of adjusting boost. I run mine at 12.5psi.
