Been thinking about putting my drive line into an extra cab or dropping an extra cab body on my frame ( will have to check if mounting match up ) or get something different
but first need to change my timing belt and get the alt rebuilt.

My jumping days are over but sometimes can get a bit ruff, looking at changing from a 4runner to a extra cab would suit me better to carry the odd oily car part and extras.
not sure if it was a ifs or solid.

Found out how to open the roof by hand, on the side almost all the way at the back there are 2 clips one each side, there should be a pin sticking out just hold the roof up to take pressure of the clips and push the pins towards the back. looks to be one of the cables has broken but will look at it ...

I have unbolted the drive motor and its ok, the part that it drives is broken or has just slipped back to one side.
can't seem to move the roof by hand (so far) will have another go at it tomorrow.

Thanks for that, had a look at a mates hilux and found where the sensor goes (what a prick of a spot). on mine the sensor is not there as its has had another engine fitted. looks like it screws in but not sure will have a better look at it soon. anybody know how they fit and if they can be fitted to ...

on the old cortina's we fitted spacers at the back of the bonnets to give 10mm gap that helped out .

A mate of mine had coils fitted to the front of his lux in melbourne, just had the one leaf left in and they just turned into a big w after awhile. not sure if it was approved or not but will ask him tomorrow.

gave the gearbox a oil change and put in the auto trans oil about 150ml and it is working much better now, just seems to get stuck when a load is put on in gear only.

Gave it a go with not to much success, it worked sometimes also had some success with taken it out of reverse with clutch in but still rolling and giving the clutch abit of a pop then takening it out.
but will keep trying different things and see how it goes.( should check the oil too).

Haven't got to do the rear window as yet (been to slack) but hope to get to it by the weekend. will go slow and try a few different ways to get the tint off but not the demister.

Windex and the razor blade worked very well took about and hour to do two windows on the rocky, just have to get some steel wool and have a go at the back window that has the rear demist. got some dark tint from supercheap about a year ago for the nissan and it worked well, not sure if you can buy ...

gearbox problem

Hi all just became a rocky owner again f80 rv with a 3y in it and have bit of a gearbox problem.
everything works fine but wont come out of reverse without a bit of work, not sure if this is a common fault with the box.

just got the tape out and the small 6cyl diesel (sd33-t) wont fit so will have to have a think about what type of 4cyl to put in. pitty the 2.5 vm diesel is not much good.

Just can't beat the smooth ride in the rangie's

Thanks for the reply looking at going back to a range rover and drop in a diesel motor 4cyl as the fatory engine drank the juice.
and i dont think a small 6cyl will fit

just do a test mix in a small bottle to make sure the oil and diesel dont seperate first.
it made the old mq quiter on the first tank full.

I did the 1hz on my old 75 and was very happy went well, all i used was engine gearbox transfer and chassie mounts for the 1hz and dash. radiator was the stock one but had to mod the sump so the diff would miss. and i think i had to change over the transfer flange. or you could drop in a 12ht much ...

My mk with 2 inch body lift does the same thing at random, i just put it down to the wind blowing across the exhust.
next time it happens i will check what way the wind is going.

My old engine on stock boost would hit 620 post turbo easy, pulled engine out due to head gasket leeking and found the pump timming was out (pump was moved towards engine about 5mm) i think 5mm moved away from engine will advance the timming. would like to hear more about the cam grind too as ...
