thinking of building some rear drawers for my shorty, want them to be removable, just want to get any tips, tricks or advice on how to build, where to buy the gear and whatever else before i got stuck into it...

been the proud owner of a SWB GQ for a few years, but its getting a bit small and thinking of upgrading...

i have been looking around at navaras, but i dont know too much about them.

I want turbo diesel, dual cab, but want to spend under 20k, hopefully more towards the 15k.

i think that all GQ are electronic speedos... i could be wrong.

but with mine... i brought a marks adapters speedo corrector. Couldnt be easier to install, plug and play basically.

If you wanna save some coin and you've got a bit of knowledge, go to jaycar and buy a speedo correction unit off them ...

if you's are after ss, theres a guy selling it in the trader section of this site. $20per meter

GUJohnno - what engine did you put your airbox setup in? If it was in a TD42 did you get any power increase from it all?

The ss tube i got from tube sales, cheapest place i found... and i think i wrote it before, but i got the bends from total rubber in laverton, they were a bit cheaper than the ...

im the same with my tank, i dont how big it actually is... my fuel gauge from empty to 1/4 sometimes. I never know exactly how much is in there.

well i dont know if it gave too much air, the car didnt get anymore performance. It sucks pretty good.

In regards to cutting the hole bigger, you could either tack weld some plate behind the hole, or even just screw some wood in, it only needs hold the arba (think thats how its spelt) in place. But ...

yeah my brakes are crap as too... i put 35's on awhile back and coming down a big hill, it pulls up terrible.

done my brake fuild and everything, my front discs are wearing, so its time for a new pair.

i done mine in 4", mainly for looks wise.

i done a bit of running around to find best places for the gear,

Tube - i got 4" s/s for tube sales in thomastown, cost around 55 bucks for 2meters
Bends - i got from a place called total rubber in laverton, i think they cost just under 30bucks each ...

im in vic,
just cars insurance with a 2" body lift... they said it was no worries.

i got the same set up as you, brought a SWB with a 2" OME, put a body lift in, took about 4 hours with a mate. Pretty simple job.

i used nylon blocks, brought it off a guy on ebay, if you do a search for 'gasdrx', im sure he still does them. His from lilydale in melb and i think he does them ...

i reckon it'll be on its way to the end of its life. But you never know my mates got one 500k and going strong. Depends if they have looked after it.

How much you buying the car for? If your getting it cheap you could buy a later model GU 42TDT and fit that...

have you or anybody else ever done a seal kit in one of theses? Couldnt be too hard? anyone ever ran into any problems?

got my a/c re-gassed and it seems to be leaking from my compressor. Got quoted $500 for the compressor (new) and $200 to install.

Wondering if anybody has similar quotes or know of where to buy a cheaper new or reco compressor? Im in the melbourne area.

got the standard ratios... wasnt too keen on changing them because i try to run my 31's while on road. Actually heres a question, if i done my ratios, how would it run being on the 31's instead of the 35s? 3grand doing a 100?

thats what i thought to, but all the mixer down there dont rate the oil. They swear by RX super.

what about the TD42? Ive heard that theres no point putting them on the diesels... and believe me, id love to get a bit more power out of it without having to turbo charge, anyone done it?

im 24 with a gq shorty, 35s lifted and few other bits and pieces and i pay around 600.

when i was looking for my shorty, i was looking at one with a gen3, i think the quote for that was around 750.

just cars are also good because your cover in the bush as well, as long as the track ...

someone was telling me that you can get away with an oil change every 5k and a oil and filter change every 10k? (this is for a 4.2 diesel)

i done some work at castrol oil plant the other day and was speaking to the boys who blend, RX super all the way... Jmax is all the crap ...

thats exactly what im thinking... similar example different circumstance, i used to have an old ford xe, i had to change some bushes and shocks for a RWC, but when i done it the car started to have what felt like a bump steer, i could only put it down to that the whole suspension and bushes was ...

a bit over 270k, i use some penrite one. I think that the missed oil changes could be a factor, he said he used to do it every 10k not 5k like myself.... is there anything that i can do from this stage
