This is where I got mine. I actually bought a cheaper one first and was unhappy with the fit; these guys sold me the AUSTOP brand for $565 delivered and it been pretty good for the last couple of years - the only thing is if it rains for about a week the material will eventually soak through - I ...

The worst thing is when you don't realise until after you've spent money unnecessarily... but oh well, that happens...

Edit: I got a partial refund for the alternator which the wrecker didn't have to do... I got 40 out of the 70 bucks back which is pretty good.

Thanks again for the help guys

Just a question how old is your multimeter, when the battery gets flat sometimes they read voltages higher than what it is. Just a thought ,i have had this before ,had me scratching my head for a while.. Bingo. There was a little battery symbol but I thought that if the display is still working then ...

Would that cause the alternator to put out a higher voltage?

Thanks

The wiring diagram is here http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/3280/50646836tv3.th.jpg The only wires going out are the ones to the dash light (marked L), the IG line (apparently needs 12V so that the alternator will actually charge assuming that its the same as described here: http://www.genco1.com ...

Another Faulty Alternator or ???

Its been a while since I've been here so I feel a bit slack just coming back when I have a problem - but hopefully someone can help me out. I left my lights in my 1989 suzuki sierra on the other day and ran the battery down - it didn't charge back up that well so I replaced it. The new one battery ...

Mine are the same as the ring type down the bottom - cheaper than the slide type. If I had the cash a couple of those slide types would have been great, although I'm not sure about how you would recess them - at least the ring-tye sit flush woth the surface To recess the rails, could use a router ...

Found some rail based tie down ideas that I've seen at opposite lock and other 4wd suppliers. Are these a waste of money, or are they really handy to have depending on what you're carrying? I'll be camping sometimes with my fridge on board and the usual camping gear incl dry firewood in tubs/cages ...

Don't forget to build then as light as possible for a Sierra. Would tend towards alloy instead of steel for frames. Would even tend towards a single shelf with plastic tubs in place of actual draws. Much liter and more versatile. Have to agree with that too - it's much simpler w/out drawers and you ...

Sorry 'bout the crappy phone pics - but here's my storage section; just used 90* angle bolted to the existing holes in the body from the trim and bolted form ply onto that. In the (I think) July 2006 issue of Street Machine (yeah... gimme a break...) there was an article on how the guys made the speaker pods for their competition car using MDF as a base that was fibreglassed over - messy stuff, but not particularly hard. You could then either paint it (if you get them ...

Apparently jeep cherokees have a bit of an overheating problem from the factory (moreso on sand etc); this guy seems pretty cluey with a lot of the stuff he does http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoBonnet.htm Not for a patrol, but surely the theory should still apply. Also on his site he mentions ...

Say you go the 1.6L carbie, how easy is it to turbo? Not 100% but I'm pretty sure that you'd be better off going the efi engine if that was your plans; the stock computer should handle a low amount of boost but an aftermarket management system would be able to handle more. I wonder how much boost ...

Re: Sloppy shifter fix

Pull the shift lever out of the box. When doing so make sure that you pull it straight up (eg, vertically) to avoid putting the box into gear. This will make it easier to put back together :D. Once you have removed the shifter you should see something like the following pic. In my case the bolt had ...

Considered a swb vitara? They would be more comparable to a feroza. More power, more comfortable than a sierra, better on road and you can fit 30's from what I've read without too many dramas. One thing to consider is that suzuki's are quite common - you see a heap more compared to daihatsu's - so ...
