Re: Heard of any 3L Patrol utes Blowing ?

The only thing that has not let go on our upweighted work utes (3.9t gvm) is the motors. Clutches by the box full, transfer cases, gearboxes, brakes, body falling to bits, tyres hitting the chassis, springs letting go, electrical grimlins and all under 60000kays but apparently (according to Nissan ...

The gap between the top of the spring hat and the bottom of the bump stop is 85mm. The Pinion angle is almost flat but it is hard to get a photo of it.

I am not sure what caster angle the kit it is.

Hope that helps.

Can somebody narrow this steering wobble down for me?

I have searched but I am after a bit better clue on a shimmy in my patrol. 99 GU, 2inch lift, caster bushes etc. (its a wear issue, not a lift issue)

It has developed a bad shimmy when hitting a bump while cornering at speed. Its started only a couple of months ago and got worse over time to the ...

I've driven a few, drive by wire is shocking, nothing under 1500 revs, So offroad they either stall or have to be drive flat out everywhere. Trying to handbreak start on a steep slope means flat to the boards, dump the clutch and either sit there looking through the clutch smoke or tyre smoke.

Then ...

I was a little disapointed, I have been a few times over the last 10 years and it was probably the worst I have seen.

The trucks and stages were good, waiting goes with the type of event due to failures, DNFs etc and that didn't worry me BUT.

This competition is a lawsuit waiting to happen and I ...

I know of a couple of times where the water cavitating in the waterpump causes the pump housing to corrode out. You only need a tiny pin hole to get the symptoms you are talking about.

The guys above seem to be side tracked - Its for a TD42.
Anyway I have a small GT25 on my GU, seems to work pretty good for what I use it for with heaps of torque and boost down low. Admittedly it looses a bit at the top but I seldom take it over 3000 rpm anyway where fuel starts to run out. Stock ...

Thanks- I may wander down to the nearest Nissan dealer and have a look, 3.0 ones are a dime a dozen, 4.2 is a lot harder to find. they are around $500 new from Nissan for both but have different part numbers, probably due to air sensor setups.

So are you saying swap both the gear box and transfer, I had a feeling somewhere the gearboxes had different ratios, But 4 bolts on the bell housing and dropping the whole lot doesn't sound too hard. Are they hard to realign the clutch and get back together.

Be careful with so called toyota/nissan rims - the stud pattern may be the same but the hub hole in the centre can be different making the rim not fit properly. One of them has a bigger hub - I think its Nissan.

If its to clear a less than 50mm body lift, using a hammer on the gear box plate can make the sticks clear pretty easy, And costs nothing. The carpet covers it anyway. :D
