Just take them off.
Get a normal set of sliders made to suit.
Heres a pic of my old shorty.

I had similar issues with a peugeot t/d I had 2 years ago. Dealer was helpful the first time, but the following 4 times were not. They always kept telling me that it was "bad diesel" and that the dealer cannot control fuel quality. I changed to using premium diesel, and no longer had the fault. I ...

My first NH Swb did 325,000kms on the first engine. Tappets were noisy, valve stem seals needing doing so I opted for a low kms replacement. The only reason I did this was due to the engine being out as i got a full respray after getting some gravel rash over the body....
I reckon I could have ...

I had been thinking of buying it for some time, but could not get over the LWB thing. I am a SWB boy through and through - Mind you, I had been thinking that converting it to an xtra cab ute would have solved my dramas...
Being hot and all I decided to buy a boat instead.
Glad its still in OL ...

My wife use to have one of these and it was not a bad car. I took it up the beach a few times and it travelled ok.
The cuttings getting on and off the beach were interesting - just a bit more right foot than usual seemed to do the trick.
Wouldnt say I would recommend it for beach driving, but it ...

I have always regretted selling my NL swb. I found it to be the best Swb I ever owned, and would jump on another in a heartbeat.
Go for it!
Sourcing a rear locker was the only major dilemma I faced, but persistance with reap rewards.
As for how much to spend on it, well, it will never end.

Well as you probably know, their off road skills are lacking due to the IFS, This also limits the amount of lift you can fit. Max tyres 33"
I dont 100% agree with this.
The NL (97-00) pajero can be a very capable offroader. Have factory 30mm body lift over other models and with some very basic ...

Did this on my old NS shorty.
Ran lovells springs and struts/shocks - gave around 75mm lift.
285/75/16's fitted with bugger all rubbing too.
Wasnt too bad offroad, but sold it due to lack of time to use it.
Might have some pics somewhere too.

No difference from my experience. Ran 285 BFG muds for a while and changed to 305 radial claws with no change.
Either way is good. I think a 285 would be a more popular tyre these days.
My 2 cents.

Seems that there is some threads regarding DPF issues on the TD. I have experienced this very thing with my current peugeot, and limped to the dealer 6 times. This leans me towards the 2.4.
Will see what the dealers have to say this week....

I know this may not be the best place to get this info, being a softroader and all, but my wife and I are thinking about getting a new grand vitara.
Its a choice between the 2.4 petrol or 1.9 t/d. The V6 is out of the question as we do not want leather interior (dogs use the car) and would love to ...

Shorties are great offroad. Fitted with 33's, a locker and no swaybars will see you drive 90% of the stuff.
33's will fit with 2" suspension lift but additional body lift will definately clear them 100%.

The set up I used on my 2007 Swb was:
Lovells H/D Springs allrounds (CFR31HD and CRR31HD??? Memory shot)
Lovells Struts and rear shocks.
Total lift when new was 85mm and settled to 70mm after some months.
Great setup and would recommend highly.
Able to run 285/75/16 (33x11.5) without any ...

nope. Thinking of importing my own. I want a clean one, and am willing to hunt hard for the right one.
Plus, the ones here are way overpriced.

I am on the verge of taking the plunge into my 10th Swb paj build.
This one will be a little different than the others. It will be based around the Evolution Pajero.
My questions/queies are:
Do they run "normal/average" diifs or are they unique to the Evo? (for locker possibilities)
Do they ...

Got a NJ Pajero, and i want to know what i need to run 35 inch tyres? How much lift? Will i be able to use standard gearing? Will the axles be strong enough?
Why? 33's not getting you far enough?
33's are so well suited to the paj, 35's are just more effort than they are worth.

Ill say 5-8k. All depends on quality.
I have bought 1 about 12 months ago for $6k - blue silver, full electrics, 215,000kms, pretty neat but a little worn inside.
Someone on here was thinking of selling their very neat, grey shorty with twin lockers, 33's, lift and supercharged V6 for 10 or 11k..

I would agree that the front is prolly the best way to go. however....
From my own experiences, I would say that I used a rear locker 100 times more often than the front. I found that my driving style was not suited to using the front locker all that often. When i used it, i loved it but when i ...
