Help valuing a 75 ute

Post by NCpaj »

Well ive been looking for a 75 ute for a while

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?t=96008

and as i said in there a bloke at where i work (heavy commercial diesel fitter place)is selling his ute,

Do you guys think this is a good deal

-2h recently rebuilt before turbo (about 2yrs ago)
-roughly 400k (150k after rebuild)

-about to be bare metaled repsrayed (i know im taking the thing apart)
-all the seals for the cab brand new (genuine toyota)

-not much rust, there was rust in the roof and windscreen surround, but now his got brand new ones of them, we cannot find any more rust any where
-bull bar (toyota non winch) and brush bars
-dual battery
-ally tray
-air con
-power steering

-2" spring lift
-safari snorkle
-no oil leaks (the blokes a great mechanic)
-gu bonnet scoop (looks good :D)
-new left hand side qtr panel (old one dinted)

he wants 10k

the only reason im a bit hesident is thats its got a 2h, i really wanted a 1hz, but with all the work we are doing to it- i KNOW the rest of it is in real good nick

I'd say it's a really good price if you trust his mechanical skills. Better than buying a 1HZ model for the same amount and having the engine die 2 monhs down the track.

i'm not positive but u would probly need the engine mounts only as the gearboxes in both models are the same.

I would say its probably a fair price.
but i wouldnt pay that much. 7-8K would be my value on it.

and if your going to do an engine swap, 6.5litre CHEV V8 Diesel!

but, i would say if your going to do an engine swap, go buy some heap with a blown motor for 2K and go from there.

10k is a good deal for that vehicle especialy if you know its history. I looked at a lot when I bought my 1987 hj75 in 2000 but ended up buying the father in laws ex farm ute for $8500 270,00km's it was basic but I knew its history and I believe that is valuable.
