Diff rebuild in Brisbane
Anyone know a good diff rebuilder in brisbane who can repair my rear LSD diff in my HJ60
I have dropped it out, problem is basically a loose pinion flange which is presumably due to a collapsing pinion bearing.
diff has done 420thousand and has not been out before.
Have had quotes around the $650 mark for a full rebuild. Pretty much everyone i have spoken to is wanting to do a full rebuild, which as far as i can ell involves replacing the bearings and lapping the gears.
Hoping to get it fixed asap and preferably cheaper than a full rebuld as I think it just needs a set of bearings.

I got nothing to say about them after they broke the diff in the MK. They put a new seal and speedy sleeve on and used a rattle gun on the diff and broke two teeth. Worked beofre I put the car in, and first time to use it made a noise.Shadow wrote:dropped it in to them this morningISUZUROVER wrote:Diff Lapping and Repairs. Most major workshops use them.
I use Duncan from top gear up the sunshine coast. He'll pick up from Brisbane as he lives down. Does a great job and I have used him from the days he was at harts. My experience with Diff Lapping goes back nearly 10 years ago so probably not relevant now, I'm just a bit stubborn
Know about 5 people who send work there regularly and have never had problems.Red Rover wrote:My experience with Diff Lapping goes back nearly 10 years ago so probably not relevant now, I'm just a bit stubborn
Let us know how you get on Shadow.

Agree with Ben, I've been sending work there for years and have never had a problem. I think you'll find they do a pretty good job.ISUZUROVER wrote:Know about 5 people who send work there regularly and have never had problems.Red Rover wrote:My experience with Diff Lapping goes back nearly 10 years ago so probably not relevant now, I'm just a bit stubborn

They fitted my rear locker to the centre and when i went to pick it up they gave me free diff oil and a gasket for the centre, also were 250 dollars cheaper on the locker than any one else,i would gladly use them again, they used to have a branch behind auto barn at moss street when i got mine fitted, but they are now on north side.

Diff Lapping and Repairs
Well the diff i had rebuilt by these guys has done another 50 thousand and hasn't missed a beat, they shimed the LSD up for me too which actually worked for the first time in years
car is not used at all anymore but i would recommend these boys for a diff any time!.
have not used them since 2007 though
