Most of you don't know but I rolled it late last year and it is a total write off.
I haven't said anything on the forum until the insurance and what I was going to do was sorted.
Basically on a Vicrawlers club trip climbing up a steep ledge and unknowingly the passenger rear axle snaps. The front wheels were off the ground and the only wheel with drive (drivers rear) screws the car around suddenly and against a tree on the passenger side front.
Because of the angle and loss of forward momentum the car had nowhere to go but over.
Barrel rolled twice pretty hard and ended up on it's side.
I was fine except for some bruises.
Two things that helped were the two cargo barriers helped keep the roof from caving in too much and having the seat belt on.
I also managed to turn off the ignition mid roll which probably saved any engine issues as once we winched it back onto it's wheels it started and was actually driveable.
Many thanks to the Vicrawlers who were amazing in helping out and were very concerned for my wellbeing - it wasn't easy for them as they were all feeling pretty shocked. Anyway the car was trailored back to Melbourne to Cheezy's workshop.
I'm happy to report that the insurance has been paid out - $13K + keep the wreck.
So I've just bought a 5sp silver GLX NJ 3.5V6 DOHC and in time Cheezy will swap the suspension and other goodies over to the new Jabber.
I paid $9K for this one with 12 months reg new valve stem seals, water pump, timing belt, plugs and some other bits & pieces. It's at the auto eleccy's getting some other work down at the moment.
So I'll end up having a heap of 3.0 Jabber spares - motor, gearbox/2.85 t-case etc for sale in the coming months.
Also highly recommend are TCIS insurance - no problems whatsoever with the claim. They will also re-insure the new Jabber for $621/yr - rating 1 for $18K agreed value.
One thing though I will not be doing any serious tracks until those rear axles are upgraded to full floaters !!!!!

The Paj will roar again I'm tipping that a roll cage will be on the order list too .
I still can't get over how the rear axle let go and screwed the Paj hard left and then it was all over.
It certainly was a beast of a 4by and all I can think of is where the new Paj will go ---- the bar has been lifted again .

Holy crap Vic! Were you the only one onboard at the time? Good gracious! Glad you're okay. Shame about the Jabber, but at least you can say you're "upgrading" to the 3.5, right? Hard way to go about it though..
How in hell did you think about the ignition mid-roll...? This one's pretty calm under pressure boys...

sorry to hear about the Jabber. Will presume you were solo - BUT if you all walk away its all good.

So I will presume your outa the Challenge? Shame? You could pinch Rusty's pwado or HG's 'ute' - i know you'd be lowering your standards
In my experience (only GIO) - most companies will pay out if :
a) what you were doing was legal and
b) its within the cars abilities.
No issues for me with the headon last Feb (should have sold you that 3.5ltr then ) or when the Misses Rolled the Pwadoin December. (2 write offs)

Sean don't worry the Prado and Surf will go just as far as mine (particularly at the moment) at the end of the day it really depends on the driver.

Yes no Paj Challenge for me this year and don't worry I've copped heaps
Carl the full floaters will be for the 3.0 axle as I want to keep the 5.29 and ARB locker. The 3.5 axle would no doubt be stronger as a full floater but my axle is already set up. A set of axles would only need to be made for the 3.5 later on if I want to upgrade as the flange/bearing arrangement will fit.
Mark believes the 3.5 axles are 50% stronger than the 3.0 but his full floaters will be 200% stronger over the 3.0 so I doubt I will be busting them.
He's done heaps for comp Rangies (Mike Smith etc) and none have broken so far and their still only 24 spline.

Holy pucker factor Batman, that's a shame to see your mighty Paj gone(ish) though it's good to hear that you are ok and you had no problems with the insurance. Hopefully your new one will be even better..

Good that you have joined the club , ie the 3.5l club. Now you can make use of all that 3.5l stuff that you helped get developed, remember the locker & the gears!!!
Maybe you might want to shoe horn in another motor???

Ohhh yes the 3.5 hauls arse alright heaps more grunt than the 3.0.
Down low there ain't much in it but once the 3.5 hits 3-3500rpm it leaves the 3.0 for dead.
Ian you added extractors and a chip to your old DOHC if I remember ?

Without doubt it will have 3.15's - I already have a 3.15 5sp t/case to swap in once I modify the selector rail.

I had a dual map UniChip fitted & Genie headers. i also fitted 4.90 diff gears.
I had it dynoed by the installer & he showed me all sorts of graphs etc showing increases in torque & power, but I reckon it was BS as IMO it didnt go any harder than standard. maybe he didnt tune it right??
As an aside I have now fitted headers to my NL (original manifold cracked) & I can defintely feel a slight increase in performance but nothing spectacular IMO.
