Panhard woes

Post by -Scott- »

I'm trying to engineer my Paj in SA, and need to re-centre the rear axle.

I'm aware of two options:

a. Adjustable panhard rod.
b. Lower the chassis bracket.

My thoughts:

Lowering the chassis bracket could return the panhard to (somewhere near) factory geometry, but would make it harder to reverse the lift (not that I plan to...)

Adjustable panhard is probably slightly simpler (for somebody who can't weld  ) but just means the axle moves (slightly) further on a left hand turn. Does it matter?

Are there any other options?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Cheers,

Scott

dont know about SA but adjustable panhards are illegal in QLD as far as i am aware... might be worth condiering.

what do you mean about it moving more on a left hand turn? it recentres the diff by adding the length you have taken away by puting it on the angle doesnt it?
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

It lenthens the effective length of the panhard, allowing hte diff to sit centred when at static load hight. Due to the change in angle ( most likley from flat or clost to at standard to more angled due to lift) the axle is further into the panhards arc of opperation, causing a larger than factory lateral movement when the suspension moves, compared to a standar paj.

After all that (that probably made no sense :D), either way will work. Changing the panhard height will change your roll centre, but probably not enough to really change the suspension dynamics greatly. Adj. rod is the easiest option.
