Has been dealt with before. Search for a few posts in this section by Drivesafe, he had all the wiring diagrams posted, and yes it is as simple as that, BUT some vehicles are negative (earth) switched, rather than positive switched.

the original harness for one bulb has 3 wires
1/ low beam
2/high beam
3/ earth
so to make it more universal for positive and negatively switched headlights you dont want the original earth from the factory loom going to ground / or chassie
so you add another wire to the factory earth then run these to the relays (where you earthed them to the chassie )instead
so basicly the only wire going to earth is the one from the bulb ,this makes it universal for most cars

ok ithink i got it, split the old loom wires like you said, and put them to the earth leg on the relay, do i still have the relays earhted to the chassis or do i lt it earth out through the old harness??
