Why do leafs keep sagging drv side.?
Gday I have a 94 daul cab hilux this is the 2nd set of IFS springs ive had
they keep sagging on driver side only front and back. Last set took 2 years and ended up sagging at least 4'' with a few kinks. And the passenger side was fine still had 5'' lift. Anyway I was willing to grin and bear it after the fun ive had but the new springs have only done 3 decent days work on the trails and are sagging allready And once again
the passenger side is fine.
Ive got long travel shocks all round worried the back shock hoop is not high enough and may be pivot on shock and twisting spring or bump stop setup not right
Any good advice would be greatly appreciated tried search allready no luck.
THANKS

to tell you the truth the only solution is to drive in the centre of the car.....nah either live with it or get a custom front pack made on the front for the extra weight of fuel tank and driver, or move your fuel tank to the other side, or always carry a passanger.
mikes car sags 3 inches prolly when its at its worst, then i get in and we go for a wheel and it settles back to only 1 inch lean for a few days till it goes back..... even bee bee is on a huge lean.

turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
yeah the first custom pack had 1 or 2 extra springs in it this custom pack has even amount and i do have someone with me normally and have even tried more abuse to pass side doesnt affect itchunderlicious wrote:to tell you the truth the only solution is to drive in the centre of the car.....nah either live with it or get a custom front pack made on the front for the extra weight of fuel tank and driver, or move your fuel tank to the other side, or always carry a passanger.

yeah Guts ive got x over and trac rod has allways been out that was one of my worries maybe axle wrap bending springs ,chassis twised, shock setup if u have time check out member section mighty lux have pics from all angles of setup see if u think some things not rightGuts wrote:Its hilux shit for you
Mine used to be real bad for doing this. Since its had the cross over installed and the trac rod has been removed it doesn`t do it any where near as bad. Infact it does it fark all now.

Hey mate did you come up with a fix for the front springs sagging?
I have the same issue [drivers side ]and are running RUF. Can only guess the spring is bent or sagged from the extra weight.
Was considering fitting an extra leaf to the drivers side, but not sure which leaf to fit?
Will be up grading the spring packs to a 6 leaf combo when the winch goes on, so i might just wait til then.

The torque rod, steering box, fuel tank, steering column and driver all add weight to the drivers side.
Also the torque of the engine and the action of the torque rod all contribute to this problem.
Guts mentioned a possible solution with the crossover, other guys move the fuel tank, there is many ways to fix it or swap the leaves from one side to the other!

hands and mums dont count!!!
I have a theory, as it has been mentioned the drivers side carries more weight, the leaves could become dry increasing friction. And because of the weight it settles there with no positive spring action.

The reason the front drivers sags more is because the diff pumpkin is offset too that side causing more touque on that side. There is no way of advoiding it if you want flex. Or you can go parrabolics. Had mine on the daul cab desiel for 5 years and still level but stiff and doesn't flex.
I put a brand new set on MAYBELLINE for the first comp and wrapped them straight away.
You can also try running your bumpstop so that it is touching the diff from word go.

Hey guys how they hanging.
thanks all the good feedback.
Have done most of the above interesting what chunderlicius said have noticed when i do more road driving with tools mainly on left side she levels out (allmost)perfect.
Thought about all the standard weight on right side thats a sh!tload of weight with bugger all on the other side.
Like b.j and willy lux said about the diff pumpkin and torque pressure being on right.
It all reminds me of a motorbike should i will definetly do some mods moving stuff to other side .
Its what mule said that i did'nt want to hear.
What should i do get a good panalbeater to check ?

Unless it's had a big hit it shouldn't be bent may have a little over the years for a larger sort of bend look for paint peeling off in one area in a line top to bottom another thing to check is that it hasn't cracked around the spring hanger steering box area knowen of 3 that have done this and in that three they have done it more than once one we couldn't fiqure out whey id droped so much over 1 trip and you could slightly raise or lower it by turning the steering wheel so looked around that area and there it was

Im here for the sausage!
DRS it would help.
here's them pics of spring pack that mate runs made out of 2 sets of 2in lifted rears

Middle pic taken from front
Near front spring hanger
6 In left pack pic's starting from front to back
I have more but i think that shows it well enough
