Was just thinking that maybe points are lost every time a locker is used and therefore as a welded can obviously not be turned off you would be continually deducting points for each section.
If the same as last years shakedown, you're asked at start gate whether your locking or not, one penalty for whole stage.

scrutineering

Post by cityview »

Competitors scrutineering was today. Next Sunday will be the last chance for the rest of you to get your rigs looked at and passed before the event. Times are between 11am and 4pm at the park. Class C vehicles being trailered to the event can be scrutineered on the Fri 23rd or Sat 24th before the event , however it is recomended to ring and ask what will be checked so your vehicle wont fail.

Regards

Peter

discription

Post by cityview »

Hey all,

Firstly , if there are two vehicles in a class then we have enough for a competition. There were three in class A last Nov so we had 1st 2nd and 3rd just had to work out in which order. Only thing effected by lack of numbers is the prize money and prizes. With less than 25 cars then there is only enough for first and second place only for 4 classes. Ideally we would like to have 30 entrants , but I guess that will come as the series continues and becomes more widely accepted. (Currently we have 19 entrys in 3 classes {2xB lites , 11xB heavy and 6xC} )

For those who dont know , the City-View Trials is an entry level event to encourage those of you who play on weekends , to have a go at competing. Class A + B are designed to test road cars mildly to wildly modified. Class C is for the spectators as much as the drivers. For those who compete in class B then this is the next step up. Play with the big boys and girls who compete and see if you and your rig can give as much as its got.

The event is held in a natural gully with great spectator access. The format is one of four stages each with bonus lines for the class C vehicles and each vehicle scores points for poor driving to be deducted from a total. The winner is the finisher with the least deductions , hence the most points left. Each stage is NOT timed and is observed by an official as to the way the driver navigator and vehicle tackles the obsticle. There are rock , mud , logs , hillclimbs and general man made 4wding including tyres. This covers most forms of the 4x4 sport. Rock crawling , short course , mud runs (although we have to have water for that) and there will be winching. Class C has a mandatory winch point , if not driven. Being and entry level event there is a limit that road vehicles and certain comp vehicles are capable of. There is built into the rules , a safety valve that allows people to continue when they come across an obsticle that they cannot drive. It is called an attempt. This is where the crew nominate to go around course using the chicken line after attempting the obsticle and scoring points that is equivilent to 3 failed tries at that line. The 3 tries rule applies so does wheel spin , out of bounds and reverse penalties. This year it will be simplified with a board at the start of the stage showing the course and the penaltys as well as a sheet for the navigator and score sheet for the official. Any protests are to be refered to myself only and a 3 person panel including myself will make a final decision of the outcome. REMEMBER this is an entry level event based on fun and competing for two days to see who can drive and who's rig can last the distance. If you are still wondering if this is for you , then I suggest , come and watch. Each of the three rounds can be entered separately or a crew can nominate for the series. Prises will be given for winners of each class in the series as well as each round. Come on , have a go , thats why we created the City-View Trials.

Regards

Peter
