Ordered my new baby today#Deliverd & pics coming#
Just ordered my new NS Pajero SWB. I went for the 'x' luxury model and opted for petrol over diesel. I cant resist the horsepower. Chose black in colour and have factory rear diff lock.
If all goes well, I should see it in 4-5 weeks.
Went through a broker and saved a whole heap of hassle and $$$ too....
Anyone else here got one on order or taken delivery yet?

I took a diesel shorty for a test drive yesterday.
Very disapointed in the power. Thinking a modern engine would pull so much better than it did.
Now looking at the triton again, the manual gearbox just works a treat with the diesel engine.
Shame I would have loved another SWB in the driveway.
Cheers

I just bought a new NP GLX diesel auto for the missus.
I was intending on an NS GLX but I got a deal on the NP I just couldn't knock back (one of the last GLX diesels available).
Got a heap of accessories thrown in as well, tinted windows, snorkel, fog lamps, seat covers, side steps, nudge bar etc.
I love it and reckon it pulls real well the 5 sp auto is beatifully matched to this engine and the economy is sensational. It would easily out accelerate my 3.0 V6 even on standard tyres.
I really like the NS interior though.
Great family truck for the missus and 3 boys.

No mods panned as yet. I just bought myself a NH swb pajero at Xmas that is currently undergoing some mods so the new NS is just for my daily driver. I was by far more impressed with the petrol but I do want something with grunt.
Cant wait for it to show up...

Re: Ordered my new baby today
I just can't bring myself to buy a brand new one and then treat it like I would.Grantw wrote:....

I think I'll wait a couple of years and get a second hand one, won't feel bad about using it as it was designed then.

The only reason i don't like the new pajero's is simply because of the soccermum status: being,
-Independent All-round
-Monocoque Chassis
-Limited Ground Clearance
I mean they are great for being a daily driver and for those that will never use them offroad, but for someone who wants to take their 4wd a bit further than just the beach - you simply wouldn't. After the NL Pajero, Mitsu have punched out great donks, but don't have the vehicle to match the performance where it matters...OFFROAD!

'04 NP DiD Pajero: 2" Lift, 33's, ARB Bar, XD9000 Winch, Rear ARB Locker, Snorkel, Dual Batts and Much More...
an article in 4x4 or 4WD monthly on tag along tours made mention of the tour leader's vehicle, an NM (was current model at the time) pajero, with the usual lift, long range tank, draws etc, and was quite happy with it.HotAe92 wrote:The only reason i don't like the new pajero's is simply because of the soccermum status: being,

maybe not as hardcore as a LC or patrol, but not useless by any means
I was mainly referring it to the older models (pre-NL).psycronic wrote:an article in 4x4 or 4WD monthly on tag along tours made mention of the tour leader's vehicle, an NM (was current model at the time) pajero, with the usual lift, long range tank, draws etc, and was quite happy with it.HotAe92 wrote:The only reason i don't like the new pajero's is simply because of the soccermum status: being,

I don't think they are useless either, just not up to scratch (with offroad performance) as past models.

I honestly believe there's not much between the two models.
It's just that the earlier chassis models have more scope for mods.
I've seen NM's traverse some amazing stuff where as I didn't rate them when they first came out.
2-3" lift, 33"s, front locker, some body protection and it will be down to the drivers I reckon rather than the vehicles. Mods beyond that are practically unheard of in the NM/NP's mainly because they are still pretty new.
However the only real concern I have is the long term durability of the NM/NP's.
However I have seen a top secret official MMM video clip of an NL vs a NM being dragged sideways over bitumen and the chassis ended up being bent on the NL - no drama for the NM.

Took delivery of the new toy and can say that so far I am extremely pleased with the vehicle. Has plenty of poke and is definately comfortable compared to the last 7 swb pajeros I have owned. Pic to come very soon...

very nice grant,
i bugged the local dealer to find out when they were getting these in. The day he had one went and had a look, they are very nice, there was a few little picky things, dont remember what, just the finish of some tid bits, but the car as a whole was very very nice. Looks the goods mate, waiting to see how this one goes
dean
p.s - have you owned 7 shorties???
