HJ60 has an EDIC.

Have a look at the EDIC when you crank the motor, it should pull the fuel control lever back towards the firewall for overfuel (starting).

Try dropping the bar that connects the EDIC to the injector pump off once you have it running, if it no longer cuts out on you whilst driving youve identified your problem.

If this is your problem, check the electrical connections give them a clean with some sand paper and a hit with wd40/5-56 etc.

If that doesnt fix it you could try pulling it apart (cant help ya with this).

do the 2h's have a low oil pressure cut off switch?

I know i have one on the 3b and when the edic is working properly this switch will trip the edic to the stop position.

yeh they do, was thinking this aswell, but low oil pressure is ignored when your cranking the engine over, ignored for about 10 seconds after engine start so this cant be the problem he is having.

unless he's got an issue with the oil pickup that is intermittant, my H did that.

but i'd almost warrant that there's air getting into the system, as it won't "start back up sometimes".

my H had the same issue, turned out to be the seals in the primer pump being FUBAR.

From memory (cant find the thread/comment) a dodgey or poor earth from body/chassis/engine can cause a similar prob. It make the edic cut out intermittently.

but it wouldnt stop him starting the engine as the oil pressure sender is ignored, you have 0 oil pressure when your engine first fires up. THe low oil pressure is ignored for about 5-10 seconds after you fire your engine up.
