hey all,i found out how to replace the timing chain on my 22r hilux and thought i will give it a go,all good so far i have the timing cover off the sump off and all the other i have the parts to put it all back together my question is where do i need gasket sealer i have some copper gasket stuff can i use this on all the gaskets,or is it even needed, paper gaskets/timing cover water pump etc/cork sump gasket and ruber seal on the oil pump.and what would be the best way to flush the crap from the engine with all these parts off, could i just flood everything with degreaser and let it run out the bottom or maybee just put it back together any help would be good, thanks James
just use a smear of ultra blue on all the paper gaskets to stick them in place. dont wash out the block you will just wash all the crap into your bearings just wipe it clean and dry with a rag

If it has a gasket U DONT NEED GOO. If u want to hold the gaskets in place use a bit of grease. There is nothing worse than trying to pull something apart and all the gaskets have been glued on.
as long as all the bolts are torqued up evenly the gasket wont leak.
To get the dust out of everthing just a spray can of degreaser would be enough (u dont have to use the whole can).

brake clean is the best to get dust and grease and oil of stuff, you sholdn't need any silcon if you use new gaskets if old one then smear some on if you had to take the rocker cover of alway put a dolup in the corners of where the cam tunnels are (lumps or dips in the head) as this is the place where it will leak not sure on your motor a most need rockers off to do cam belts
