Started a new job last week and i now have to drive about 70 km each way to get to work.
Last 2 tanks i have worked out to be about 15.7 L/100km, which i think is a bit high, have read somewhere that some people get alot lower figures than that.
SO what can i do to get better mileage, money doesnt permit a snorkel for a month or 2 but im guessing thats a start.
Currently has extractors and a 2 1/2"(i Think) exhuast, 33 inch tires.
Its due for filters (oil and fuel & air) to be done soon.
7/91 HZJ75 trayback with about 396 800km on the clock reasonably good motor blows a little bit of smoke.
Think ive covered everything

I was thinking along the lines with a snorkel more cooler cleaner air better economy, i maybe wrong though (Have been before)
No load at all, trayback with no sides 95% of the time
Running 33's as stated above
I didnt mention that i usually average about 105-110 km/h

thats still wierd, when i drive my 2H at 110 i still get high 13's. 1HZ is a more efficient engine and i believe is geared a little higher so yours should be able to do 110 and still give very good fuel economy, sub 13 anyway.whoneedsbitumen wrote:I was thinking along the lines with a snorkel more cooler cleaner air better economy, i maybe wrong though (Have been before)

Possibly something you have already calculated??? -> but have you worked it out with the accuracy of your speedo/taco included in your calcs??
Ie. if your running 33's possibly your speedo/taco is reading low and therefore you may have done more kms per litre than you think. From experience my 35's were reading around 10% over, 33's about 3% over, 31's about 4% under and 275/70R16's are spot on (FJ62). This directly affects your fuel economy if you don't include it in your calcs.
ps. GPS is the best way to work out speedo accuracy.

Slightly modded 80, 2" lift, 285 tyres, snorkel.
Was getting 12.5/100km on long drives and a little more in the city.
Now Turbo, but still to check the economy, once I get over the fun of driving it with the turbo
By the way, had it dynoed and speedo tested, only 3.3km difference at 100km.

Shut Up, Get Out, & Start Digging...
I lost about 100km a tank when I put the 33" mud terrains on. Used to get about 650km out of a tank on 31's, but after the 33's went on it dropped it back to 550km before I had to fill it up. This is on a '93 1HZ 75 series as well.
Maybe get some 31's for everyday driving and put the 33's on when you head bush. You will notice the difference.
