mid 80's extra cab on 4 runner chassis?

Post by tuf045 »

can a mid 80's extra cab cab be put on 4runner chassis?
what sort of wheel base are 4runners? will it be possible to put a tub on the back by bobbing the front of the tub.

You might want to proof read what you type. But a part answer to your question is yes an Extra Cab Body will fit on a 4 Runner Chassie. You need a body lift to clear the body over a crossmember at the rear and you need to move the 2 rear cab mounts to do it right. And yes you can then bob the front of the Tub to make it fit. This swap has been done before on Pirate4x4.com many times.

I know of a 90 something hilux extra cab going on a single cab chassi, it was a bolt up fit aother then adding the 2 extra rear cab mounts to the chassi.

Yes on a single cab frame its no problem as the crossmember that needs to be cleared is further back on a single cab frame.

actually the more I think about it, its on a twin cab frame, but yeah the same goes for the x member. But it has a body lift anyway.

Dam that thing is ugly and it needs some trimming in the rear as well as some rear end suspension work. Either that or I`m too pissed or that pic just a bad pic.

That rig is Old School. Has been around as long as i remember. There is a build up thread on pirate from when he first pit it together and yes im sure that is an Extra cab on either a SWB frame or a 4Runner frame.

It is very close. Its like our first Gen 4wd hilux swb. They had the short wheel base frames right up till 96.
