Anyone know a Toyota Engine Guru in Melbourne or Vic???

Post by mc dave »

Looking to modify a 3F and need to find someone to do it. From what I've read, I'm looking to add Electronic Ignition, Extractors and thinking about boring out the engine a bit.

Any opinions on these ideas or who to get to do it?

i got one..and i know your pain...

not much torque and not to much in the way of useful rpm range..

I did a little investigating on the old donk and it seems to be one solid opinion with most people is...don't wate ya money.

The engine is a chip of the old block of the old chevy blue flame accept with a small bore capacity..

The rod bore ratio is just all wrong and with the legth of rod thats in the engine it would be much better suited as a stationary engine..

Upping the compression is just going to make things worse as dwelling the pistion for big lengths of time up there along with a lower rpm feild and a high load output...is just going to end in tears and pinging to death all the time..

The only half practical option is maintaing the compression level and forcing some air into it somehow..via turbo or blower....

But since the engine isn't cross flow, it wont lend it self to well to wacking on a blower and the exhaust manifold (factory) isn't in the best postion near the chasis rails for wacking on a turbo..

Nitros may help...but up keep would be expensive and pistons would most likely crack out if not replaced and this then makes it all very expensive...

Remove engine..source one of many different options and replace with any one of the wonderful creations toyota came up with since the inception of the 3f boat anchor donk...

Hell I got a chev v8 complete in the gargage I have waiting for it and just cant get the money to put it in...damn bills..

just my two cents
