I did tell you before we started that i wouldn't be able to hear you!

Anyway back on topic of pajero challenge............. Just been doing a bit of prep work on my navigation before this weekends navrun so hopefully this will help us out for the paj challenge

New front wheel bearings slammed in, new engine wrap on the sides done (v bling indeed!!), mudflaps installed and gps in...

Now just need to learn gps, give my navi a run and lessons in communication and get familiar with no sleep!

Roll on Saturday at 9ish am!

got a wedding friday night - gonna be hard to stay dry!!! DOH!~

Finished off sparewheel mount, mounted light bar and lights, mounted GPS and wired up....
Only a few more things to go and we're set.. Just got to wire up the lights. Mount GPS antenna, pop a battery in, mount a jack, some recovery gear, number plate light and number plates, coupla fiddly bits.. hopefully get most of that done tonight.. I'm hearing it's easy driving which is good.. winch is mounted but not operable..

It's nearly time to get excited

Well just got home....

Was good event

the first half anyway

We blitz the 1st & 2nd stage, as we were the first car into the end of section one, we had about a 20 min head start into section two, so didn't see anyone the entire stage so made it rather trouble free

Then dinner... 3hr break!!! long time so got some sleep

Third stage..... The Rob Pepper stage

Enough said about stage 3 then

for all that know of rob pepper stages

Well i decided after looking at the notes that the first bit was too damm confusing so we went to some later points, checked in at the mad cow check point & left in rather quick fashion.

Headed up a track (which was apparently wrong anyway) and this monster kangaroo with big long teeth jumped outta nowhere, and took a massive chunk out of our front left tyre, causing us to hit a log and launch the car onto its side for a nap about 10m forwards of the log

And thats about where our night ended.....

Big thanks to all that helped us put the car upright again

Not much damaged apart from a dented snorkel.

So we picked up our truck & loaded the car onto it, we then proceeded to cut & run in the tow truck but decided against it rather quickly as some steep hills might of caught us out

Headed back to camp & got sleep

Great event, wish we had of got to do the entire event as i think we should of placed rather well....... My hoping anyway, but we shall see on presention night

We now have 11 Days to get the car ready for the engel winch challenge

But it'll be done

If anyone has photo's or know anyone with photo's of our car (No: 5) laying down for a rest could we get them emailed :d

Yep sure was a great weekend.

Hardest navigating I've seen. Complex and a lot of it.

Overall standard of vehicles and their navigation skills was very high. Not many (any) new comers. Good to see so many great rigs.

In my view the 2 nurses and the mad cows were my high lights. Actually all the marshalls did a fantastic job. Well done to the Pajero Club and everyone who put it together.

Every morning after I say that was my last one. (buggered) Then the next day, only 364 sleeps to go..

Just you wait Mr Pepper. Your next Navrun will have special HOT PEPPER nav notes just for you.... pay back style ..

typically well organised and well ran Pajero challenge...
Firstly I'd like to convey a HUGE special thanks to all the marshalls that braved the elements for our enjoyment, The caterers at all the sections inc Pajero club catering group, Terry Roberts and his team, The subaru club etc, The SES for manning the Half way and Finish, The Nurses (blood pressure check!!!) And of course the orgainsers and their families. Secondly a thanks and congrats to all the other competitors. What a well mannered, well presented, friendly and courteous bunch.
Thanks to the media coverage for bringing our sport to the public, Both 4wd TV and Robert Pepper on behalf of Overlander magazine. I think there were nearly as many cameras as competitors. Excellent coverage.
The Event..... Wow.. that was great. As Hobzee mentioned the Nav was turned up another notch this year. It was great. I found it perfectly challenging. That what this event is all about!!
Well Done Robert Pepper for testing our grey matter, although i found some of the 'less descriptive' hints a bit obscure.. None the less i enjoyed it thoroughly. The terrain was great. good driving. There were more CP's than last year which was noted and appreciated. speaking of Check points, The MAD cows were a welcome serve of fun and humour in the dark hours... (even got a kiss... or two

Nic....)
All of the checkpoints excelled and the activities were a great breather from the numbers... Oh the numbers..
I was disappointed with myself though. The calculations and navigation were conquered without a hitch my lack of attention to detail cost us dearly.. Two weeks of late nights building the car and 3 hours shut eye the night before brought us down.. Next year

Well now it's all in the presentation evening.. I'll see you's there.
Oh one last note.. Cheers to everyone that moved over as 'quicker' cars approached. It's not a race but it's frustrating stuck behind someone dordling. We didn't encounter any such hinderance this year.

P.S. Just remeber.. If the NAVRUN boys don't win this event we can all give 'em shit at the next navrun.. and the after that... and the one after that... and..............................

Well what a great event.
We started alright on S1 untill the halfway CP. Where we stuffed. Which sucked as the answer was 'Exceed'. This we are blaming on all the cars parked around the place. As this hid 2 of the E's that we needed. But we had enough for a DVD burning program. So next yr piss all the cars off.
Next half, we must have plotted wrong. As after the Black spur inn, we had problems with directions. So ended up cutting and running.

S2. As with most people. We did really well and are very happy with our efforts. We did the stage in a good time and found everything. This was a good stage. The Plotting was stupid hard. But the NAV was.

S3. The R Pepper stage. We expected this to be hard. Now I am all for hard. But as some others where talking about. This was just annoyingly hard and took all enjoyment out of the event. Once we had what we thought was correct we thought this stage was fantastic. The navigation was nice and hard and took alot of thinking and some good decision making or you ended up very misplaced. We had a number of times where the GPS was abused for info. We did shithouse on this stage. But we had fun doing it.

S4. We didnt do real well here on the first half. But once we got to NP4.03, we where happy with our efforts. Even though I fell asleep while on the northern section. Did well on the task at CP3. Luaghed when we watched Rohan and Wayne do it though. Wayne lying on the ground to get the width right for the MWB.
Then the drive along the powerlines tested the Paj. There was some good ruts and holes there. The next trip through the pines was good.
After finding all the cars. We decided that all the locals like or liked Valients at some stage.

So overall, was a good event. And we will be back again next yr. But the Plotting has to be backed off slightly. As it was just stupid hard. And took alot of fun out of the event. Last yr and hte year before where good hard. This yr was I need someone to punch hard. Once everything was plotted we where happy with the actual navigation we did, even if it was wrong.

So people to thank. The team, Rob, Paul and Nick, thanks lads for a good job. And for the Paj for surviving another yr with no mishaps.
All marshals you guys and gals, provided some much needed laughs when needed.
Catering was fantastic for the entire event. Really made up for all the compitors ODing on Redbull, V and starburst jelly babies. Not to sure about the onion on the snags though. 4 blokes eating snags and onions stuck in a car isnt good. Espercially when one of the elec windows doesent work. And thanks for Burkey for providing plates, since Rob and I forgot again.
And to the Paj club for running another well organised event.
All I can say is, what happened to the Nav paper?
