If I had a bigish budget and wanted a Hi-Po motor, I would look closer at some of the ricer donks (Joey's very neat SR20 conversion springs to mind) or a 4agze for something rather differnet a Mitsu 4g63t (Lancer Evo motor.. that would give a 3.8 commo V6 a few things to think about)

They have average oiling, and tend to crap bearings just in average road cars. Remember that the Buick v6 you are using was 20 years old already when Holden started using it in the VN. ive got a 4age in my drift car and i wouldnt even consider putting any other engine if I wanted more power,
i just put a g13bb into my zook and even that was a beautiful upgrade.

I have to say that for power, reliability, conversion process, and cost, the best bang for buck would have to be a 4AG-ZE. This will also help keep the delicate weight balance of the zook under control.
Although the 4AGZE is getting a little old, its still a better and younger option than the Buick lump that holden were to inept to replace some 15 years ago.
