My rear coils keep sagging

Post by badger »

I have sagged 2 sets of coils in the last 3 months. Both heavy duty.one set were 7 inch and the next 6's with 30mm spacers. both were fine until a trip to cruiser with all the gear on board.

i like the height of my car and am not going to lower it.
just looking for options or ideas on how to stop this happening and not lose my flex.
will poly airs, or custom made coils help?
any other sugestions too please

one set were dobbinsons, the old green ones
and the others were pedders that were way to hard for me mates ute so i aquired them

not alot of weight id say 200kg over standards body weight
not sure on specs but both were supposed to be heaviest weight available

All springs go through a settling period.

poly airs will help, but that sucks how they sag. Ring up king springs head office and talk to someone about your requirements. They always will help if they have a sale. Tell them what you have blah blah and if they dont have a coil, they will make one

i don't think they compensated for it being a diesel,as it is just the front that is sagging.

no its the rear
the front is still at the same height after 3 years but rear has killed 2 sets of coils since last oct

with regards to the compensation they were supposed to be as heavy as they come.

im almost considering poly airs or sumfin, but im scared they will kill my flex

Coils also sagg if they get coil bind. 30mm spacers may cause this. You need to increase bump stops by the same amount.

Have you taken them out and compared old/new free length?

Ideally springs should be made so they can reach coil bind before the material yields. But designing heavier and heavier coils into the same package forces compromises.

Does your suspension setup allow more spring compression than stock?

yes it has alot more than stock................... 7 inch lift no extended bumpstops. i will be extending them about 2 or 3 inches in the dear future (to stop tyres rubbing in the gaurds as much, and it apparently pushes the opposing tyre downwards when on full compression)

i have also been told that because i have standard length arms with this lift the coils are bent in there normal state and this is whats killing them.
could this be true?
