Good luck with your choice whatever you get, i decided to do it myself so i can get an idea of how it all works so i can fix it easier if i break it!......edit...the navi can fix it for not telling me to slow down :D

But if you go the KURMIT option you can be assured it was only ever driven to church on Sundays by a elderly owner as the following pics will show you :D

Didnt say were the church was tho! :D

As Adrian's navvie at last years OBC I can personally comment on Kurmit's set up and competitiveness.

The Rangie is extremely well set up and ideal for the OBC. Very fast and very capable. It was the first time we had teamed up and put the new and improved Kurmit through it's paces against the clock.

I was  with it's power and the speed it could maintain without feeling out of control even though there was the odd white knuckle moment doing Brumbies and the mud runner stage :D

We placed 6th, made some mistakes and didn't really push hard in the rocky stages so with some competition experience together and in the vehicle we COULD POSSIBLY do better.

I don't really want to see him sell it as I'll lose my ride for next years OBC  but it is a well set up vehicle ;)
Hello Fish

Yes i was there last year helping out and know how good Adrians truck is. i looked after group b. Hope he keeps a ride for you

Hi Bru

Next year obviously, I know i couldnt build one for that, but have been able to find some great trucks. That will give us at least a year to prepare.

cheers

obviously the detail is where the $ lie

truck $8700
motor diy fitted $10000 eg motor, sump, marks kit, exhaust, radiator, maf tune, thermo fans fuel pump, fuel hose, etc
dual trasfer $3000
shocks front $2500
shocks rear $1800
diffs $3000
lockers $2000
internal $300
exo $800
paint body $500
street tyres $1700
street rims $600
beadlocks $1600
front winch $3500
rear winch$1500
lights $1000
dash $400
gps $500
stereo $400
steering $1000
dampner $300
front arms $1400
rear arms$500
panhards $350
engineer etc $400
seatbelts $400
winch cable etc $1400
front bar $300
ute chop $1500
ground anchor $300
recovery gear $400
fridge $950
uhf $320

thats $54,420 and thats all i can think of in this 5 mins and its very conservative ie no rego, paint for diffs and every other item, tray, bullbar etc etc, replacing outdated and unused parts like winch solinoids, repairing stuff like windscreens for rwc, buying plasma cutters, migs, bender, etc, beers, generous help from sponsors which is on top of this, 5 link kits that i used and changed, lift kits that sit in my shed, shocks that were replaced, batteries, r & d, and mainly missing out on very important times with mates, family and gf's etc which are never replaceable!

Funny thing is that it would cost less to build a very capable sierra than a comp spec winch

you could spend 8k+ on a comp high mount winch, no dramas. twin motor head, 2 motors ,widened drum, 12mm rope, free spool (2k) , initial purchase price, strenghthened brake shaft, then 20mm cable from batteries to solonoids, easy $800 for 500 amp cont solonoids x4, bigger jellcell batteries etc. easy 8k if not more. don't forget when your trying new things the RnD that goes in and very rarely do you get things write the first time, sometimes 3 or 4 goes to perfect something. sure lots of people who have been there done that would agree.
