60 Series Owners with OME Suspension.
Hi everybody.
I recently had a 2" Old man emu lift kit fitted.
It contained
OME 2" Leaf Springs
OME N50 Shock Absorbers
OME Bushing Kit
OME Steering Damper.
Whenever i take it off road, or get the rear wheels to drop down under flex, when the springs returns to it's usual position, the rear shackles invert themselves.
Should this happen ? I also managed to do it going over a little bump out at Vineyards.
I took it back to the people who fitted them and they where "Suprised"
I have since bought a set of OME anti inversion shackles but am yet to fit them.
The Shackles Invert themselves towards the front of the car, so the spring pack is arched more and thus the car is higher, it also bounces alot when they are inverted.
Here are the model numbers too... just for everyones info!
I really want to know if they've stuffed this up.. cause i spent a large amount of money in total with these guys just recently.
Part #'s
Fronts: CS005F - Spring 51-110
Rear CS004RA - Medium Load

I didn't like the kit so I got the parts separate. Got pro comp shocks and anti inversion greasable shackles and the medium springs. My OME's eventually settled a little, anti inversion shackles are about a cm longer too :) I'd go back and try to get your shackles swapped over.
I wouldn't mind looking into larger retainers to get some more flex..

my old man had the same problem with his 60 series OME shackels. Took it back to where they where installed and they welded some anti-inversion plates on, (for free) hasn't happened since. real simple, legal, cheap (or free), no loss of articulation or anything.

hmm thats strange, i have the heaviest springs in the front (CS005F) and back (CS005RA & B) and yet i have never had any dramas, i bought the complete kit and only had dramas with it sagging, mine rides beautiful (for a 60) not bumpy or anything. Change the shackles and let us know how you get on. Where abouts in brizzy are ya?

agged 60
OME springs sag - help......... 87 HJ61
I've got the full OME / dakar compliment under my rig. "2in" raised, incl 10mm longer anti invert shackles. Fitted 12000 km ago Sep 07. $2K - not fitted.
SC004F front springs & 4RA rears (medium load). N50 front shocks & N85 rears.
Stock bumpers. Only extra weight is small drawers in rear.
Bump stop to axle clearances - front - 80mm & rear 125mm, even both sides.
16X8 sunnys with 285/75/16 Dick Cepeks, no flares. Tyres scrub front outside of front guards before springs hit bump stops.
I lost all the original measurements but it has visually sagged a fair bit from initial install - all round sag.
ARB warranty officer in QLD wants me to remove the springs and measure the free height of the arch to compare to their mesaurement (which they won't tell me) - or bugger off and install a body lift. He claims that the 2in lift is from sagged height...... What the ???
Q: any similar stories out there? what resolutions ?
Q: what is the standard bump stop clearance from new? ARB guessed front is around 50-60 - which equates to my 50mm lift being 20-30mm. woohoo.
Q: is a 2in raised spring based on standard height? - my answer would be YES.
Thanks,

Wow My Threads Back!
I ended up installing the Anti-Inversion Shackles and letting the springs settle.
Now they Flex / Ride Great
PFJ.
Mine haven't sagged at all, i've done almost 20,000km's.. since january 07 and they've been great.
I'm suprised that the 285/75/16's scrub, could you post some pics of it flexing and it's unflexed stance ?

Holy hell I posted in here when i had my 60 series
Mate take it back to ARB and show no mercy stick it right up them!!! i had my car there 3 times (and i even worked there at the time) they told me i had a twisted chassis . I eventually fitted the body lift just becuase i was over it!! Mate they are absolute rubbish, do your self the favour, remove them from the vehicle, cut your losses and put something decent in! Then take the springs back and sit them on the front counter at ARB and go off, its the only way to get anything done!. I get mad when i think back about the trouble i had with them!!!!!

Dan - what are your bump stop clearances? I'll try and upload some pics.
A mate has 3in King springs and they measure 125mm front and 145 rear. He claims that it raised 2in after settling. Sits proud and rides nice without swaybars. Similar load as me.
Mine is all over the road. Bad body roll. I spat a power steer belt a month ago and I followed the tilt tray home - I thought it was going to fall off the truck - the body roll was embarrasing.
It flexes well off road - but the sag and handling are truely sh!thouse.
Where can I get factory ride height data ???????
Thanks,
Duncan.

Ah just found it..... right here on the ever resourceful outerlimits
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic758 ... +cleanance
front 45mm
rear 65mm
Troy - yours was 10mm higher than mine !!
I'd be very happy with 125/145 = genuine 3 inch lift instead of 1.4/2.4in lift. It still looks bum low, even with the 'hollywood hotrod rake' !!!
see new transport guidelines http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/resourc ... an05v2.pdf
no mention of max lift. Also: SPOA - goooooone.

yeah mate that was mine about 4 weeks after the springs went in, after that they went down hill fast!!!! By the time i put the body lift in i had about 22mm lift in the front passenger side and about 30 in the drivers front then the rear went down to about 38mm of lift in the passenger side and around 45mm lift on the drivers side. The front left spring pack was shaped like a 'W' but thats apparently its "normal" yet the other 3 looked fine! I fitted the body lift and it was still lop sided but stood nicely.
dont put a body lift under it unless you want 35's. Get yourself a 3" kit and if you can try and get either a heavy duty 3" for the rear or 4" medium duty to kick the rear up. nothing worse then having a saggy bum

I'm not sure how to measure bump stop clearances, never had to do it before !!
It's just the measurement from the bumstop fixed to the chassis to the diff right ?
If you need help uploading pics just send me a PM.

Dan - yep. top of the axle to the bottom of the bump stop.
Spoke to the "Ass Reaming Bandits" today. I removed the springs and measured the free camber. They were within 3 mm of the spec height - dammit, which is the only warranty clause for ARB. My guess is that the spring is waaaay under spring rate for the truck - especially with 12h-t. They still don't want to help me however they might supply the upgrade leaf for each pack, equivalent to the heavier 5 rating springs. $160.
Either that or they can stick it and I'll buy KING springs. They really look substantial. $800 for TOY061 & 062.
It continues.
I don't really want to expose ARB and their non-existant warranty budget, but unless you buy a new Lux and blow $20K, they're not in the game....
Dunc.

Arse Reaming Bandits!!! I LOVE IT!!! Do you mind if i use that term???
Mate on principle i wouldnt hand any more money over to them, Because that isnt really customer satisfaction. If i were you and really wanted to feel satisfied! i would: 1. Removing the dodgy stuff, 2. Part with the extra $$$ buy the King springs gear. 3. Then take to the Dakar crap with an oxy Or 4. Separate the packs and scatter them accross ...'s car park, That would be satisfying (jks) . Or Just think if you separate the packs you will never have to buy any more flat strips of steel again
Keep us posted

They say you want a RESOLUTION, well............... here it is !!
After much debating with ARB, I've received a full refund for the springs. $666.
I installed the TOY061 & TOY062 KING springs last night. Twas a late night !!
At the moment it is sitting +45mm at the front and +25mm in the rear (compared to Dakar) and rides much better on the road - much less body roll. It is evident that the 4 series springs are way too soft for a 12h-t equipped 60.
Very happy. I'll post some more measurements after the weekend trip to Fraser Is.
