I dicided to change the oil in the gearbox and transfer case the other day and now it leaks oil, i notice a tiny bit on box before changing but now it actually leaves stain on ground!
it appears to be coming from top of gearbox, cleaned brether out and still cannot locate leak,,,

used penrite Manual gear 80 oil as i always have.

any ideas?

what about a thicker oil?

Make sure that the drain plug is threaded correctly and done up with the right amount of torque. Also, ensure that if there was a washer or gasket there that it was replaced.

hey,

not sure where your reverse light switch is on your box, but mine (MK 2001 N/A 2.8 diesel) had somehow managed to get a leak through the center of it, and oil was slowly coming out of it. $60 later and it was all fixed.

pulled the gear selector boot off and found a little black plug near the breather ,
