Heat & Fullriver AGM under bonnet

Post by me3@neuralfibre.com »

Has anyone tried an AGM, and specifically a Fullriver AGM under their bonnet? Did you have any problems with it failing due to heat?

Thanx

Hi me3, AGMs usually fail under the bonnet because of a combination of heat and a voltage level that is too high when charging the battery in high temperature conditions.

A number of AGMs are designed to tolerate heat and high voltage but when not sure, if it’s convenient, try putting the battery inside the cab. Because of the better temperature conditions, the battery can take pretty well any voltage level.

Cheers.

And if it is very inconvenient to have them internal?

I've been running a Vision 100amp AGM Aux. Battery under the bonnet for about 6 months now with no dramas. Also have a Odeyssey AGM Battery under there for my start battery. Its been going strong for over 12 months.

Fullriver 90Ah AGM been in diesel GU engine bay for 18 months, no problem. Have run in 40c degree days, sitting near the turbo, all good.

A mate runs same setup, same length of time in near identical conditions, no problem.
