Hi Rookie, is your battery a wet cell?
I make dual battery charge controllers and I couldn't tell you how many times I have had customers and auto electricians ring me and say the controller was not charging the NEW battery or there is only something like 4 amps going into the battery.
In every case, it’s been a “ DRY “ wet cell, someone has forgotten to fill the battery with electrolyte.
If yours is a wet cell, your battery will have 6 removable filler caps on the top of the battery. Take them all off and make sure you have electrolyte and that it is covering the plates in all the cells.
Cheers
