Rolled 94 S cab hilux
Hey guys,
To add to the list of my problems, i wos coming home from a wheeling in my local stuff, last section is dirt road with a long sweeping left corner, basically went around that, lost it, and in the end rolled it. Rolled my pride and joy. This is how she looks now
Just was gonna hunt a new cab for her and then go from there? Is this the right thing to do? Everything else is good except uhf aireal n snorkel head.. lil stuff. Any recomendations where to get the work done in northside of brizzy? K all help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris

It's a fiddly but simple job to replace the entire body. Not sure if a roof section replacment would be feasable.
No idea what a cab'sworth though - might be cheaper to look for a complete 2wd lux and part out the rest - might even score a better motor/box/interior out of it (depending on spec/age obviously).

If you claim insurance on that i guarentee they will write it off. It will be an economic write off. I see a couple a week pass through the auctions here in Bris with similar or even less damage. Most insurance companies will not give you the option to buy it back now days.
Its an easy fix and relatively cheap as long as you can do the work yourself.
It looks like the expensive items(Doors and Bonnet) survived pretty much unscathed. You should be able to find a cab in a wreckers around Brisbane for $450-$750 bare. And a good chance you will find a White one so at least you will not have to paint the inside if its not quite right on the outside. There are 3 different whites in that era Hilux. Swaping cabs is a simple job. You will need a few mates to help you lift it off after unbolting it if you dont have access to an endless chain and a tall enough shed or A-frame to hang it from.
Dont even concider replacing the roof. It can not be done and maintain the same strength it had before. There is more than one layer of metal in those pillars and you can not access the inner skin to weld it back together so your relying on the weld on the outer skin alone. It will more than likely also cost you a lot more. Because you wont be able to do it yourself.

First unbolt all the panels then strip the interior. Remove the front bar and side steps just to make it all easier. Then you will need to remove the radiator and unplug all wiring and hoses to the motor and also disconect the handbrake cable,Clutch line,Brake lines,Steering shaft,Power steer lines and spedo cable. Then its basicaly 6 body mount bolts and lift it straight up over everything. No need to pull the motor or box out. I have done this swap in the past with just 2 guys working on it in 2 days without raising a sweat.
oh really.. thanks heaps m8.. this has been a massive help. Ill do all of that. Sorcing a cab is becoming a bugger but.. cant seem to come across one yet. Guy in toowoomba is sending some photos of some this arv. I can get four guys so im set by the sounds of things. Am i able to pm you if i come across any problems in doin this? This is my first rig and first cab swap so i may become stuck. Thanks

A guy just south of Gold Coast exclusively wrecks hilux's- All Hilux Parts- 02 6674 3307. He's a bit pricey but reliable. He used to charge about $750 for bare cab (this was dual cab ln106 era) and $1500 incl all panels, so single cab should be less.
Or try Goast Coast 4wd Wreckers- 07 5591 5988, they make lots of money so ask for Nick and then barter with him.

Nick is no longer at GC4wd. You need to ask for Terry. I repeat Terry do not deal with anyone else there.slosh wrote:A guy just south of Gold Coast exclusively wrecks hilux's- All Hilux Parts- 02 6674 3307. He's a bit pricey but reliable. Yeah insurance mate has been through it all
They wrote that off and tony it's been through fowles and he almost lost it there to another bidder and then it turned out there was a reserve set by insrance company and wasn't anounced at auction time what .
i'll ask a mate if he can push it for you, can't say nothin's for sure but i'll see what he want's (he's done a few + pannel beater by trade)
one thing with his the roof wasn't kinked as bad mate turned out $5500 in front but this was doing all himself also another mate of mine bought a roll over and done the roof chop and it was heaps harder
any dramas PM me

I havent actually brought anything from this guy, but have had dealings with him and he seems pretty reliable as slosh said.slosh wrote:A guy just south of Gold Coast exclusively wrecks hilux's- All Hilux Parts- 02 6674 3307. Bloody hell !! Ican remember flattening my mates LN65 single cab and straightening the whole thing out with a mates port-o-power, welding up any tears, sanding it all smooth ,coat of paint and down the pub for sunday counter lunch. But I think they do it different these day's.

Goanna Off Road, Out the back in the shed.
Thanks impose.. im just about to call him now. Dont need block and tackle as me n mates are fairly fresh to the 4x4 scene and are willing to use man power.. well boy power anyways man this has been a big learning curve.. slow the down wen driving my hilux. I got offers for buying a new truck but i love my lux to much to bail out on her and will be doin the cab. It seems stupid for me to ditch all the suspension work and engine n tray n all that that i did my self. So i will be letting you guys no wen i get the cab and will be doin the whole take pictures and step by step thing so others can learn. Cheers guys

Gotta think how much out of pocket it is to fix or just to get the other and swap it over then part the rest of the old one if any of your mates has engine crane you can use the ram out of it then make some die's up to do it sure thats what rover1 did for his why not give it a crack at fixing it
ah memories doin my mates @his place till 12 at night up at 6:30 for work but if you have time to play with it then it's not to bad not looking foward to when i have to push mine out one day
I reckon it'd push out ok +- a bit of body filler and a carton or so
