removal of cylinder liners/sleeves??
Anyone know if you have the proper sized plates to fit the bore and sleeves whether you can rig your own puller from just a good piece of threaded stock?? If anyone knows about this I would appreciate it as I don't want to spend the money they want for a tool.
Assuming you are removing the bore sleeves ,run a few welds down the old sleeves ,this will make them contract and come loose.To fit new one's put new sleeves in freezer and heat block with hot water.An old truck engine rebuilder taught me this 20 years ago sounds rough but works very well.

what engine are you refering to. dose it have wet liners or parent bore.
if they are parent bore sleeves/liners you would probably know that just about all parent bore liners come semi finished, and thus still require machining to the correct piston size so you may as well get a reputable engine shop to do it for you.
If they are wet liners then just make a puller up using think wall tube that has a larger diameter then the cylinder to sit on the block and a plate that fits the bottom of the liner. use a peice of threaded rod and hey presto, liner removed.

The engine is actually an isuzu 4bd1t 4 cylinder and the sleeves are dry....the engine manual for this doesn't say anything about "semi finished" the block is stamped with a grade # that correlates to 4 different sized liners.....it recommends placing the new liner in dry ice and then after it chills to then press it in. The idea about hot water in the cylinder sounds good too thanks.

A couple of points, dry liners tend to become electrolised to the block so running a few beads of weld around the liner contracts them so they just about fall out ,using a removal tool on a liner that is 'frozen' can broach the blocks bore so when you fit new liners there will be irregularaties in the bore.
Wet sleeves aren't used in any Jap' light diesel that I have seen (and I work on alot) and you lift 'em out by hand.
