trailgear 6.5 gears
i know there was some talk of these a few months ago when they first came out.
i was wondering if anyone was running them yet and how they were holding up.
iv been talking to a mob called low range off road and got a quote for them to my door via USPS paying through PayPal for
$589.39 US (Around $755 AUS at current exange)
sound sort of to Good to be true.

so what sorta tyers would these be good with 32 ... 33... 35 ?
i like that less grinding of the case so i presume less chances of crackinglow range wrote:We took some rough measurements with a caliper, and the gear is About" .04 shorter and "About" .03 wider. The grinding is very minimal and can be done with a dremel tool, or a die grinder with bits available from just about anywhere. I hope this further answers your question, and I am sorry I didn't answer your question sooner.

think it said on there site:
for stock drivetrain.
4.16 - up to 31s (83 low, 12 high)
4.9 31 - inc rock crawling and better 5th for highway (115 low 16 high)
6.5 - above. (183? low and 20 high)
basically anying could suit any combo depending on engine, gearing combos, inc diff gears and gearboxes

That will be perfect Nic. I had series 1's (4.1) and sometimes i looked for a lower gear on the rocks with 31's. I have 5.14's with 32's now and am very happy

ok
i have just been looking on that site myself.there is some really good gear.I have 5.12 VIT centres and i only plan on running 31's so it would be fair to say the 4.1 83% should be ok for mine eh??The lowest ones arent that much dearer than the 83's for the difference your getting tho

Hello,
Noticed the thread and thought I would bring it back up to the top.
My Name is Sean and I run Low Range Off-Road.
I can help you out with any Shipping costs you may need. I ship UPS, Fedex, DHL, and Postal Global Express out of the states.
As far as the 6.5:1 gears, they are a good product and we have sold a good number of them. They have been tested out by the guys at Trail-Gear for at least 6 months now and withstood the test they have put them through. You can see the first Samurai they went into on their site forums here: http://www.trail-gear.com/vbulletin/sho ... php?t=1709
Let me know if I can ever help you out with pricing and I am smart enough to even convert it if you need ( http://www.xe.com/ucc/ )

Hey Nicbeer
I got the trail tough 4.9s off sean @ www.lowrangeoffroad.com . his customer service sh1ts all over trail tough and some of the other US companies. His price was right and the shipping was to my door in under 5 days.
I'm running 30x9.5 MTs at the moment and in first low can climb up a vertical obstacle. I've got some 31s coming next week and I think it will be perfect. Car runs like a demon on the road now. I can sit on 110 and pass cars on the flat (extractors + 2inch exh. engine mod). You won't be disappointed at all with the 4.9s unless you go bigger than 31s and still want rock crawling performance.
My mate has a jimny with a sierra transfer, 31s, and series 3 RH and his tranny is screaming on the highway at over 4000rpm @ 100km. Mine sits on about 3900rpm @ 100km showing on the speedo (~110).

Yep WT 1.3l, Its an apr 88 model with the plastic flares. Mines a weird one as the later model WTs have a 2 pinion front diff whereas mine actually had the 4 pinion front diff which was great when i put the lockrite in as i didn't have to change it over. So I think its a bit of a mix.
I'm not sure if its standard wt diff ratios or maybe NT cos of the 4 pinion front. Maybe someone on here can shed some light on the situation?
i'll let you know how it goes.
