powersteering from coily sammurai into sierra

Post by icekayak »

Hey
Anyone know if the powersteering outta a 1997 Coily Samurai will fit into a 85 Sierra, and what bits you need to swap over? is it all just bolt on?

Cheers

Samurai power Sierra

Samurais are U.S issue and are left hand drive. Sierra's went to the civilised world as right hand drive. I don't think any model Samurai box will be any good unless you want to move the steering to the other side of the car.

maybe you could put it on the outside of the sierra chassis like an ifs yota box and run a steering uni like they do with the vit power steer!

Samurai/Sierra steer

Looks same to me. U.S didn't get coily's so I'd say its the same as Aussie version.

they are exactly the same car. it was just badged a sierra in OZ (the only market to have so) 'cause they didn't get the Ford version

and yes the steering will fit. in OZ we didn't get power steer in the coily, but in NZ that was an option (something to do with all the imports at the time)

That should be it.

If your car is EFI, you probably have an idle up for power steering (vitara's do) There should be a terminal in the loom down near the oil pressure switch that needs to be plugged in to the pump. This will help stop the engine stalling when you are steering at idle.
