What is a 3f worth?

Post by Fglass »

Hi all, I am converting my 80 series from a 3f to a fuel injected 350 Chev in the next few weeks, I was wondering how much I should sell the compleat 3f for. It has done approx 140,000km sinse rebuild and serviced every 10,000km.
Thanks jason.

I put mine in the trading post last year for $1200 and got $1100. I had to get rid of it quick. You'll probably get more there than on the board here cos the less the buyer knows, the more they'll pay!!

Good luck

I've got a 3F and 5 speed transmission/xfer sitting in my shed, complete except starter motor.
I paid $1300 I think for the lot, it looks to be in pretty good condition.

I'm in Canberra, if anyone wants to buy it let me know... :)

It's worth as much as you can get for it.They haven't been around in a new vehicle since late '80s/early '90s the vehicles that had them are either full of tin worm, worn out or in the wreckers yard who will sell you one for $1500-00 with 6months warranty.

Not so bad for an engine that snaps crank's and crack's heads.

Just a short defense of the mighty 3F ....

dirt cheap, take to gas better than just about any other motor, plenty of torque - they suit my needs no drama's.

Mine's ticked over 300,000 with all of that on gas, it is cheaper to run than a brand new Barina, faster than my mate's V8 rangie's and turbo diesel 60's, carried 9 people, a dog and half a tonne (on the roof) up out of Blue Rag Spur plus tonne's of wood on numerous trip's.

I know there are heaps of better motor's out there but for the price and purpose it ain't as bad as most people say.

The 3f is a limo....they never burn valves, or leak at the exhaust, or break cranks....but you can always get home with one...all you need is a leather belt if it spins a bearing...or take the piston out and back off the rockers if you break a piston.....but more often than not....its the hospital bills that sound an end to ownership..... for getting out to see whats wrong when a mighty boy passes you (whilst the car is still in motion)

Jason....all jokes asside, its worth between 300 and 700....if you sell it going test drive possible, then higher than on the shed floor.....the 803f has a lighter flywheel and water to oil cooler on the side, and is the best 3f they made (if it is not an injected one)

I think you may find that the user seaeagle resurrected a two year old thread. The OP posted his question in 2005.

**edit** ... and then I realise that I have posted in a 6 month old thread...
