But a bit of cruiser housing combined with a rover housing, will fit a 40 series centre, wont it?Bush65 wrote:A 40 series diff centre will not fit a rover housing.mroffroader wrote:...In the rear I will do the cruiser centre purely because its cheap and easy...
To fit a rover housing, you will need an 8" toy diff centre (hilux, surf etc).

Disco with nissan diffs?
Moderator: Micka
...Oh and the 40 series is weak in that the inner splines on the output/side gears wear quickly and then fail = and of course second hand ones are pre-worn, often beyond re-use. Get new ones and new axles and you wil be OK for years...but as said fitting will be a nightmare.and Mr Yota's new parts costs are stupendous - more than Rover or Nissan combined
Nice gq swb ute chop with a huffer for the good times
Its a Landcruiser 60 series. It has big diffs front and rear and the diffs are already offset to suit Landrover with 4.1 ratios. These diffs are basically the same as the 40 series diffs that you're starting with only wider and the diff nuggets are already in the correct position.
Cheers

Unless you have FREE GU diffs, or 404 diffs, or RW2.5 diffs, FREE I say again, there is nothing better pound for pound, $ for $, and Oz of sweat to Oz of sweat, than the Toy Conversion.

GQs? I thought they had the worst hubs? my buddies' (2 with GQs) keep blowing hubs (AVM or Warn or OEM) and this is without a front locker...
the CV is also no match for the Longs, granted it is a bit pricier, but it simply is no match...
Final thoughts...( )...until the Patrol makes it state-side once again, the demand for great parts for it cannot only sprout from Europe, Australia and the Middle East...that's where the Toy has the advantage...

i have not had any dramas with mine but they are standard diffs ie no aftermarket cvs if i went and spent money on aftermarket chromemoly cvs they would be stronger again but havnt broke 1 yet and i drive the arse off of it will let you know if i brake 1
and as for lux diffs we smashed 3 crownwheels in johns lux with 33s so forgive me for not wanting to put them in my truck plus i would of only been standard widths as well so when i weighed up my options gqs were the conversion for me

RedRover - This is NZ, we dont have silly rules like that (I dont think )
Cooter - could you post some pics of your nissan swaP? I had a look in your nissan diff swap thread, but the pics are gone
MrO is now considering throwing a nissan diff in the rear aswell as it will cost about the same or cheaper than having custom shafts made.

Yep, they are all Rover arms, spring plates etc. I kept everything Rover as much as possible and all parts execpt for the panhard and steering arm can be interchanged with any Rangie.cooter wrote:maggot
do your front control arms run parralel with your chassis anddid you move spring plates in as well as to me they look like rover ones
I did this for ease of spares. So I also moved the spring plates in while I was at it, but this in not a "must do".
