Dual cases or gears in lux? / Fitting duals
gday im trying to finish (read; get lux to a drivable state) after doing v6 and turbo 700 conversion and suspesion work and cant decide weather to just put gears in now or to go dual cases with standard gears in both. I still have to get both drive shafts resized so thats not a problem and i have a old spare transfer case in the shed. taking price and advantages into account what do you guys and girls think? Thanks in advance.

cheers was there much work involved? where will the hole for the 3rd stick come through? do you still use the same xmember in the same location or do you have to move it? and if you dont mind me asking what was the total cost?

would definately go the gearset. as breaking the input shafts is very common and at least with gears you just put in a chromo output shaft and the whole setup is extremely strong and reliable. At least then if you do have a prob oyu can just through in a stock box to get you out of trouble.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
The 3rd hole is 6.5 inches back for the extra stick.
So the crossmember will be further back if you mount the gearbox off the rear case.
I just did all these mods when the motor and gearbox went in. Saved me changing shafts, crossmember etc later.
For the speedo cable i used a 90 model hilux cable, seemed to be the right lenght.

duals
cheers matt. So let me run this by you all. I already have to rezize both drive shafts so that cost wont change, i already have a spare trans case so i wont need to find one of those (how do i know there the right type?), so im guessing i need a dual trans adapter kit and longer speedo drive cable. so then whats the easyest/best way to go with the cross member? the crossmember mounts are easy i can just cut them off and move them back further. thanks heaps everyone once i get it going i will have to meet up with you all and go for a drive
