custom engine mounts

Post by slosh »

Need to upgrade the engine mounts in a Patrol with Ford v8, the Dellows ones collapse too easy. Read somewhere that people have made custom mounts out of GQ suspension bushes... can anyone tell me more? Do they vibrate more than ordinary mounts? Any help appreciated.

Hello , My engine mounts , gearbox , Transfer , and links are all nissan patrol in my zuk. My v8 cruiser was also the same. There is a small vibration at idle , also coil springs vibrate sometimes , but it is smooth otherwise , and I have the luxury of knowing when I go out nothing is going to move anywhere And say a bush did flog out , At least it is captive. They run 14 mm bolts , Nylon nuts , Cheers Paul.

sweet Idea. will fit some at the back of my transfer this weekend, need something to support the extra weight and torque of the duals. was going to use commodore ones but this seems better!

Not being to worried about vibration I just drilled a hole straight through the dellow engine mount and used a 1omm bolt straight through the whole lot. I will also chain it down tommorow to keep the pressure of the mounts as a precaution.

If you want custom bushes and suspension mounts - or better than origional replacements - go and see Syd King at QLD Rollers and Liners (Rocklea). He mostly does rover stuff, but also others upon demand.
