A speed camera would have prevented that!
What is a Boss 290..there were Boss 302 Windsors and then Boss 351 Clevelands and I think Boss 429 BB's...cooki_monsta wrote:we measured up a ford boss 290 engine, and it would fit, alot of custom work tho

a true boss motor was a windsor bottom end with clevo heads which is why they had a special valley cover as the vee angle between the 2 is different, I'm not sure about the new BOSS 290 but I think is a 290 kw 5.4l
I also had thought of using one of these or a 4.6l supercharged mustang v8 chevs are the easiest conversion n the most common for parts
Best of luck

mate your asking for trouble with the bike brake cable for your throttle.demo2 wrote:Bellhousing, block huggers, cable from a push bike 2 make throttle cable, extend wires etc. You will have 2 cut off old engine mounts and weld on new ones as well as make brkts for a/c pump and power steering etc.

that is correct, the boss 290 is a windsor bottom with a clevo head, its 290 kw and 5.4l or the boss 260 is 260kw and 5l both are out of b series fordsnastytroll wrote:a true boss motor was a windsor bottom end with clevo heads which is why they had a special valley cover as the vee angle between the 2 is different, I'm not sure about the new BOSS 290 but I think is a 290 kw 5.4l

basically the bike cable quality is just that, a push bike, it only has to deal with 1 MP.
however I am sure you can get kits for race cars and the like that are 400% better than the bike stuff that would suit.
if your trusting your throttle on that cable, then more power to you
you can use a factory cable of many vehicles with very similar mounts and have peace of mind.

showing my age here as in my day the Boss 302 and Boss 351 etc was the cubic capacity not the power output...nastytroll wrote:a true boss motor was a windsor bottom end with clevo heads which is why they had a special valley cover as the vee angle between the 2 is different, I'm not sure about the new BOSS 290 but I think is a 290 kw 5.4l

The 5.4 is a completely different engine, NOTHING to do with either a windsor or clevo.
By the way a NEW boss motor would be a more difficult fit than a chev, have you seen the size of those things across the heads
Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
the original quad cam fords were from the GT40 came in 289, 302, 351 n 427. Some found there way into shelby cobra's as caroll shelby did the development on the GT40 as it was originally a 4 cylinder Lola design bough by Henry jnr for La Manns
Dont know if the new Boss motors are a rework of the old ones

mate go the 5.7 gen 3 as this is a easy conversion i have done too of these one into a 75 cruiser and one into a gq shortie engine mounts are easy to fab and marks offroad do the adapter kit. Engine & wiring harness and computer tune through a&r auto spares in melbourne they also supply the reverse sumps aswell these motors are easy and cheap to get good power out of as i put a supercharger on the one in the gq also supplied through a&r auto spares ...good luck mate, go with fuel injection and with 5.7 as the tech is a shit load better than the 5l and you canget half decent fuel econ aswell
