Exactly, the Pajero Challenge is for people who know how to use there gps, I'll admit i did last years paj challenge pretty much without any practical gps experience and found it difficult, but have since done 5 navruns so i think i know my gps backwards.... Computers are not mandatory, probably easier without them Stupid bloody things
I would ask of the organisors thou that any project way points be made so then can accurately be entered into a FX324 as if i get given 1.15km as a distance i can only enter in 1.1 or 1.2 km with 50m off, so in the case of an area with lots of close tracks it can through me off a bit

Sorry Dan, we can't cater to specific equipment limitations.
I had same problem with FX324 and 1.15 km. So I did 2 points, 1 at 1.1km and another at 1.2km and figured it would be about the middle of the two on the plot screen.
I'm surprised you got that far ... Weren't you being chased by great big kangaroos by then...? I gotta have some of your no-doze tablets

As Rob said before that's the difference in the teams. You have to be able to look at something and find a way to make it work. Sailors and explorers have been getting navigation metre accurate for more years than we all care to think about Without a gps or laptop (god forbid!)
The only advantage i claim a laptop to have is that it does the calculations for you so it's quicker. All of the mathematics involved in conversions and projections are formulas installed in the programs by HUMANS. It's well and truly possible to do everything in that event with basic GPS knowledge and some good maths and nav skills.
I actually feel sorry for people who think they need a GPS as they are missing out on the best part of the comp IMO.
It'd be a sad day if laptops became mandatory.
It'd be a sad day if you needed something greater than a basic hand held GPSR to compete it the event. Keep in mind i say compete. Not be competitive

4th - Cooper / Hummer (they weren't 3rd for once - not sure if this is better though) .

Thanks Danni. I was so surprised... and excited.
We came third in stage four, I i think 7th in RMP's stage, third in activities, ninth in quizes and equal top ten in 1st stage. Next year i've promised to get an early night the night before so my first stages don't suffer..
to be up there with the hummer/cooper and ATOC's is a great buzz. These are all guys that a few years ago i only dreamed about being on par with. This is the first time i've nav'ed the whole Pajero by myself but it wont be the last

I never done a Pajero Challenge as hard as this one before and we just took each question and co-ordinate one at at time and it paid off.
Thank you to Procomp and Pajero Club for such a good event, I wish more events held presentations like you guys do. The effort that goes into the night is well appreciated.
Well done to Alison and the crew for taking out the event.
It's great to see a chick get out there and show up the men. Alison has also done a few winch challenges as an all female team and navigated first car home on a few previous Pajero Challenges too. She also works for ARB ... I wonder if she has any sisters ....
