can anyone give me any advice about getting a modified turbo chip for a GU 4.2 TD patrol and a rough idea of the cost.
also is it worth it?

turbo chip for a GU 4.2 TD
The TD42 isn't an electronic pump, its mechanical, it has a TPS for emissions to control the EGR valve on the late motors. The exhaust dump pipe and exhaust are crap, MTQ make a replacement, this when tuned with more fuel and 10psi will give about 30% increase although the motor still stops at 3000rpm, there is an upgrade where Garret exhaust and compressor wheels are fitted and this carries the boost to 4000 rpm and gives about a 50% increase with exhaust temps around 500 degrees.
MTQ also do this mod, but they don't work on cars just parts.
