At the Cliffhanger we feed everyone (compeditors, spectators and marshals)

Oh, almost forgot, Kevin is also bringing his bar.

I don't know who is to blame so we shouldn't cast aspertions.
Given the coditions he was operating under i think terry did a terrific job. I agree the food was skimp and under our expectations but it's all a learning curve.

hey all,

just had a call from the Tassie boys, they are looking to see if anyone has a tandem trailer they could use to transport their car up there, if not is anyone organising a truck to transport cars on that they can share some costs and put their car on that.

If you have any ideas please Pm me.
Thanks
Nic.

states

Post by Hobzee »

OK we now have teams form Vic, Tas, NSW, SA and QLD enterred and had discussion with a WA team last week. Hmm that's almost every state. We need Nash boys or Scrivener from ACT and someone from NT (Packers are almost NT) and we have the Nation covered. A real state of Origin bash...

I to would love to be there, to better my 3rd place but as i said previously the new dates are almost unworkable with OBC,Engel & Ateco. I really think Rudi needs to have a close look at the change of dates.

P.S Kriminl maybe we can get the same group at OBC and continue our nite nav dueling out there. (Beware the 80)

Sorry Coighty, looks like dates will be permanent. Its the best thing we could have done.

The amount of entries and enquiries have been outstanding, looking like to be a lot bigger this year.

As Steve and I have been saying, there are a lot of events out there, so there will be always something clashing with something. Unfortunetly it will come down to your personal preference and choice.

school hols

Post by Hobzee »

Our new date in Jul happens to be school hols in SA, VIC and NSW. This was no accident - i't about the only common holiday week in the year. Any earlier and it is dangerously close to OBC. We put the date out there last year and other events have since popped up and clashed. This will always happen when there are so many events to choose from. What it is to have a choice... We will stick to the July date for now as we have had an amazing response having shifted to cooler days. Can't be making too many changes to structure.

Got some really really good ideas coming in for stages and marshals are lining up, many with great ideas having been there before.

I am oppossed to the date change but we will be making the time to get there. I loved the event last year and once the "wrinkles" are ironed out then this event will become the biggest event on the calendar for those who want to compete in true outback terrain with tuff as nuts stages, good organisation and location without the 3K price tag.
The sport is growing which is great. What this means is that there is more events on the calender than what one person can feasibly attend.
We're doing the OBC this year aswell as the cliffhanger. After the two i'll have a better idea of a true comparison. But for my money, if i had to make a choice i'd be saving 2 grand on the entry and doing the Cliff Hanger.
The OBC is one of those things, i want to do it so i can say i've done it, the cliff hanger is something you do because it Rates high.. very high..
It's a shame you wont be there Coighty cos we had a score to settle, And Krimnl... Who am i going to YELL at if you're not there???
See you's all in white cliffs in July...
Thanks to all the marshals already excited and prep'd aswell.. It's tuff country and tuff conditions yet you greet us with a smile.. With a bit of luck i'll be convincing the better half to attend and help out with spectator entertaining.. I urge you all to make a week of it with your families. It's not ideal conditions for a family holiday but it is an ideal event to have your family involved with. The more wives and kids you bring along, the more wives and kids your wives and kids will have to mingle with/ Get them out there!
Cheers Dan

4wd Monthly

Post by Hobzee »

Just had a great meeting with 4WD Monthly in the Mother city .. All good and excitng stuff. Only bummer was the 3.30 am start and the Rude Dude booked a 9.15pm flight home... Aaahhhh!!

Anyone who registers their entry (refer www.navrun.com.au) (and still can pay later) gets a page on the 4wd monthly web site and their chance to show the build up of their rig and acknowledge their own vehicle sponsors, etc.

We will have 3 official photographers at Cliffhanger - Danni, Anthony Tan (The dude who shot Nav Nite and we had the finished goods by Sunday pm) and Lauchlan who works for 4WDM. All three will be pooling the pics and receiving the accolades if their pics are used..

Fuzzy doing the DVD.

Thanks goes to Glenn & Brendan for meeting with us today and providing us with their continued support.

Hilight was getting a copy of the May magazine Woo Hoo...

Spoke to hobsee today, the creek on the property is well and truly flowing thanks to the current rain up north.

Looks like there will be plenty of mud this year.

rain

Post by Hobzee »

Was talking to Cootawundi station owner just before... He says the main creek through the station is about 1 mile wide = major flooding from near by catchment areas... He now promisses water in the creek when we are there. He said even if no rain between now and then there will be major water holes. He also told us to bring more canoes and that Duck Tsunami is back on this year... ;)

Water proof

Post by Hobzee »

Hi team,

The creek is almost a mile wide in places and the flat plain we drive across to get to the hills at the back is under water. But fear not, Cootawundi Station is water proof. The bitumen road all the way to the front gate has remained open all this time and camp will be relocated to higher ground if need be so that 2wd vehicles and trucks can still reach camp.

No spectators will be stranded or miss any action and we dont have road closures and other dramas holting progress or vehicles getting to competition stages. That's what we dont have ..

What we do have is a lot of water. I will not have cars submerged or made to do silly things as I have to pre drive the courses in my own rig - and then drive it home, wet seats and all. The fast creek runs will have water hazards which will make things interesting and there is some goopy parts that will slow us up too. We are in for some very spectacular special stages and this is going to make for some tremendous spectating, video and magazine footage. The 4WD Monthly guys are already itching to be there.

I learned today that quite a few OBC rigs are being stored at Broken Hill for 6 weeks - contact the Olivers at Silver City 4WD if you are in BH and thinking of flying home. We can get you flown onto The White Cliffs property and even have your rig sent there and ready for you. Gees we look after you blokes...

Hi all,

Cant wait to compete against you all again at Cliffhanger.

It's an excellent event with stages similar to the OBC, I hand it to Rudi and Hobzee for organising the awesome stages (35Km creek run had to be the best, we clocked 130K/h up the creek on the sandy sections) awesome. I hope some of the creeks are waterless for a similar stage.

One of the (Cliffhanger) stages was the largest vertical wall I have seen in a creek which we had to get up, hard work for the Navies but they all loved it.

The food sounds excellent and with the bar on-site, how good is that going to be.

Spoke to Guido at the OBC and he said he really wants to go but wasn't quite sure if he will get there this year. Hope he makes it.

Hope to see all of last years competitors and hopefully heaps more of you.

Cheers from sunny QLD
