G'day
I'm after a locker for the front of my mav, ultimately I'd love a TJM/ARB but there is no way the minister for war and finance will let my budget stretch that far.
Has anyone come across the Aussie Locker? If so where do you get them from? I've read reviews on Piratw 4x4 and checked out their website but I can't find anywhere over in Aus that sells them, or are they the 4WD Systems Lokka renamed for the US market, if so we pay more for them over here than the yanks do

i dont think he does want one of those, i think he wants an air locker by the sounds... particularly as he wants a front one... stearing would be a biatch with front auto lockers

blk always posts on every locker post about how good his lockright is
did you happen to notice he wants a tjm or arb locker = air locker
not an inferior product that is hardly similar nor as good?

bac to the topic.
benefits are debatable. tjm seem to be "better" now with no o rings. but id personally take what ever offered better price/ service.

dont have, but have driven a mates 80series with detroits in the front and rear, the stearing is REALY heavy compared to air lockers which can be turned off.

altho they unlock in the rear easily, the front just doesnt want to unlock unless its a 90degree plus corner, so driving down anything but a straight road is just plain annoying.


just my thorts anyway, he seems to think thats its easier to put up with it than to get front airs put in instead

I have Lokka in front of my GQ, takes some getting used to driving it but not impossible, yes its a little heavy, i just make sure if i want to turn a corner i ain't under alot of power, otherwise it don't let go

I had a detroit series IV soflocker in the front of my patrol and it was really heavy on the steering even on gravel roads but was brillant when rock crawling. The only problem I had was the sun gears (I thinks thats what there called) inside it broke after 12 months. I've been told it was caused by incorrect backlash set up when it was fitted.

I've since replaced it with TJM airlockers and they are awesome. :armsup:

I have nothing against auto lockers you just have to make sure who ever fits them knows what there doing. I know a couple of people with them and love them.

BTW my Detroit was installed by a diff specialist and he still couldn't get it right. :bad-words:

I had the HD Detroit locker cost $1500 could never keep cv's in it n it didnt steer, go the tjm pro locker if you cant afford one wait til you can, I replaced my detroit with arb's but only fit tjm's now

to answer the question the lokka lock rite is the one your thinking of n they have a habbit of braking the 4 drive pins that the sprag clutch runs on

I think I'll just have to wait till I can sneak it past the missus and go the pro locker, cause there's no way I could justify to her the extra $1000 on top of the 4wd systems lokka

for the money you wont go wrong with lokka by 4wdsystem if your not in to comps and just wont better tracksion they are very effective when your in 4wd the stearing has a return to center effect but i wouldnt call it real heavy i use hand controls which means i stear with one arm my left one at that

Yeah I figure I can get a front and rear lokka along with 3 staun internal bead locks for the price of an air locker so a bit of a no brainer really

Badger your enthusiasm to knock the lock-right overtook your ability to read and comprehend the question asked.

Stu stated his missus wouldn’t let him buy an ARB/TJM air locker and he was interested in the ‘Aussie Locker’. The Aussie Locker is an auto locker, you might want to read up on it here. http://www.offroadlockers.com/

Maybe before you reply to a post, next time you take the time to think about what is actually being asked not what you think is being asked.

And yes as you state I am very happy with my lock-right and it performs well. You do have to adjust your driving style but overall it is excellent value for money.

Check out WWW.ROCKY-ROAD.com.
They sell both the ARB air locker and the lockright.
Could of got the air locker to my door for under $1000.
