Good to hear Fish, that someone had the extingusihers. I couldnt remember. We where generally in a rush to go somewhere. But do remember seeing them on one or two cars.

As for Rohans power. At the start of the arvo stage at viewmont. Was amusing to watch some guys in a Rangie reverse back another 20m when they noticed it was rohan in front. Then he took off with all 4 wheels spinning. Looked good, and from memory in the end the top10 every second was needed for that arvo stage.
Adrian was pretty brutal with the clutch to at times. And with that susp setup must have been good across the crab holes.

Nah, the top 10 ended up fairly spread out due to the length of the stage but I think there was only a couple seconds seperating 2 of the top ten teams. Quite amazing seen the quickest stage time was about 2hrs 15mins from memory

Yeah it was quite an adrenilin pumping experience racing across the open flood plains at such high speeds. I think we were doing 80-90km/h across the crab holes and our top speed for the stage was 120 km/h. At one stage we hit a salt/clay pan which had a 2 foot exit ramp and we spent a couple of seconds without touching terra firma

Well only 114 days to go, sounds like we still have plenty of time, I bet we don't. How many of you will still be working on your trucks the week before you leave for Broken Hill, we always seem to.
Has anyone heard what the number of entries are so far, I have not had any updates from Sharyn since November 06. and that was 35, are there any O/S entries this year.
See you in May.

Tell me who you are running a book on this year.
Mate look forward to catching up on the Friday night for a few ales, By the way it is Dennis Olivers 60 th in MAY, that should make for a big drink.

Also running 2 class's again this year, with updated CCDA manual to be released soon. ( Might have to change tyres to go in easy class, just kidding not going out there for a haircut )

I know its a bit early and this year's comp hasn't been on yet, but does anyone happen to know the dates for the 2008 OBC ?

Some of us from the UK are coming over in 2008 would like to start making arrangements ASAP and having dates to work to would be good, especially booking time off work, etc !

2008 OBC

Post by Laurie Griffiths »

Hi Pam
The OBC is always held in May and is generally early to mid May.
I doubt they have set a date for 2008 as yet but if plan for mid May you should be pretty safe or contact Paul or Sharyn Vanderhorst their details are on the OBC web site.

Who are the likely contenders?
Neil Redpath & Patrick?
Simon?
Dave White & Paul?
JAmes and Andy?

Hey Jase,

Our thoughts and strength is with you mate.....
we also expect to see you and your truck both as good as new and running on all cylinders next year, if not sooner.
08's obc is looking to be huge.....so far 3 confirmed and 3 wanna b's.........are coming from South Africa. Hopefully all the UK teams and maybe the Yanks will be back too....to name a few of them.
Wouldn't it be great to see some of the original guys return who haven't since the first time in 1999?.
Perhaps someone can start mustering the mob.

Best of luck to you, and congrats again on your & Steph's new little girl. How's about a pic of your little tigger then?

and a couple of first timers in a third motor !

Dave sends his regards and hopes to see you there next year and also "hi" to Celia et al

preparation is full steam. The truck is nearly where I am happy with it. I have the next week off do do the little stuff like storage, harness rubbers, shock adjustment / spring rate swap, transfer case bracket, cv and axle storage brackets, paint ground anchor, fit a surge tank and some time at LCMP.

How's everyone else going???

I can almost taste it!

Good to hear Bru, we're getting pretty pumped too.

We're just about ready to go. Did a heap last weekend. Quinny is at Jamboree this weekend giving it a bit of a test, so he could come back with a whole heap of stuff to fix or all the work could be all good, we'll know Monday I guess.

Main thing for us was sorting out the second snorkle and fuel capacity, the truck has done heaps of comps already so it's setup.

Fuel is sorted we got a plastic aux tank from our sponsor Mannell Motors, which fits nicely in the back and gives us another 50 litres.

I'm down in Geelong picking up a few last minute bits and peices from my folks place and we should be right to go after next weekend. But theres always something that pops up.
