Replacement rims for 1991 Hilux 4Runner SR5 - wheel experts?

Post by LuckyLegs »

I have a 1991 Hilux 4Runner SR5 limited, VZN130R, IFS. I have factory Toyota steel 16x6 rims (ZERO offset) and standard size flare kit on wheel arches. Currently using 245/70R16 AT tyres. No problems, except 2 wheels are slightly bent and hit a slight shudder at about 80km/h, and I want to fill the flare kit with a wider rim.

I am considering a 16x8 ZERO offset US Centreline Wheel forged alloy billet wheel replacement.

Q1. Will this fit and provide internal clearance (back-space is said to be 4.5 inches on the Centreline wheel I'm considering) as well as wheel arch clearance ride and full lock turn?

Q2. I am considering a slightly larger tyre at 275/70R16 (rather than 265/70), or does this need a rethink for such a rim above (i.e. given that rim fits safely/properly)?

Thanks,
Pete.
Lucky they don't snap off!
