Can someeone tell me why my turning circle is sooo bloody bad??? Running 35's on 15x10 rims and no the locker isn't engaged or stuck in as it is exactly the same in 2wd or 4wd....( just incase that thought entered anyones head.)
I've heard GU front ends have a better turning circle but I don't have the $$$ for the upgrade!! YET!!
Cheers kids.

I bought aa rolling chassis so not sure what it was like before... I havn't modded the suspension in anyway as yet. Is running 10inch rims from a landcruiser.... so not sure what offset they are but I know it is the standard offset for that size rim on a cruiser as I bought them new.offroader-rama wrote:i have 35's i and i can just turn around in a suburban street hugging gutters i think its fine.

I know I need new adjustable panhards but wouldn't think that would affect the turning circle at all??? Maybe I'm assuming wrong?? Will check the radius arm to see if it would scrub if I wind the stops back in a bit..... and all drag links/tie rods etc are standard for now.. want to get stronger ones eventually. I think it's about a 4-5inch lift in it too.
any more info u need.. fire away....
thanks for the help!!

i would assume if the drag link is standed then it wont be long enough, so when you turn full lock imagine another 2 inch's(or what ever the difference in length) in your drag link would do to your swivel hub then in turn to your wheels, thats where i'd start any way, i use a modified rear drag link for the front drag link as the tie rod ends are the same.

no, but i am careful not to lay the boot in at full lock. ive found that little bit of extra lock to be handy in comps. comp courses seem to be getting tighter and tighter of latelytuf045 wrote:do you break many c.v's?Madmac wrote:cruiser offset rims should be adequate for 35s, maybe a previous owner has wound the stops out a bit. im running 35s and ive wound mine all the way in and adjusted my draglink to get max lock each way.
Brighty you're just used to the magnificent turning circle of a 60
I have both a GQ, 35's on toyota rims and a 60 series. The 60 is the best in the business at turning circle and the GQ is only beaten by tritons as the worst
Cheers Dan

drop the clutch, fry up the rears a little, foot on brake then flick the steering wheel to the right should be able to turn around in a normal suburban street without touching gutters...

still wont help if you are still running the factory draglinkevo wagon wrote:i have the same problem with my gq shit turning circle i have a 5 inch lift and adjustable panhard rods etc i run custom off set rims and still have issues. so if i adjust the steering stops should this make it better? thanks for any info and sorry for hijacking thread
So if you are using the factory drag link it shouldn't be hitting the stops then right??? And if I was to drop the drag link off make it then hit the stop and measure the difference, this should be how much it gets extended by right???Madmac wrote:still wont help if you are still running the factory draglinkevo wagon wrote:i have the same problem with my gq shit turning circle i have a 5 inch lift and adjustable panhard rods etc i run custom off set rims and still have issues. so if i adjust the steering stops should this make it better? thanks for any info and sorry for hijacking thread

Rear drag link WTF???? so you have rear steer, or are you refering to the Panhard rod ?? Draglink conects pitman arm on steering box to the steering arm on the knuckle. Panhard rod is the rod that locates the axle laterally.offroader-rama wrote:i would assume if the drag link is standed then it wont be long enough, so when you turn full lock imagine another 2 inch's(or what ever the difference in length) in your drag link would do to your swivel hub then in turn to your wheels, thats where i'd start any way, i use a modified rear drag link for the front drag link as the tie rod ends are the same.

I think he is referring to the tie rod which on the GQ is at the REAR of the FRONT difflay80n wrote:Rear drag link WTF???? so you have rear steer, or are you refering to the Panhard rod ?? it will probobally hit the stops on one side but not the other. your best bet is to buy a quality adjustable one. the standard ones are paper thin and bend easily.brighty wrote:So if you are using the factory drag link it shouldn't be hitting the stops then right??? OK, so I get one of them.... does that mean I need a new tie rod that runs from knuckle to knuckle as well then???Madmac wrote:it will probobally hit the stops on one side but not the other. your best bet is to buy a quality adjustable one. the standard ones are paper thin and bend easily.brighty wrote:So if you are using the factory drag link it shouldn't be hitting the stops then right??? no, the tie rod should not ned to be extended as the distance between the knuckles stays the same, when you replace the tie rod with an aftermarked one you are looking to gain strenghtbrighty wrote:OK, so I get one of them.... does that mean I need a new tie rod that runs from knuckle to knuckle as well then???Madmac wrote:it will probobally hit the stops on one side but not the other. your best bet is to buy a quality adjustable one. the standard ones are paper thin and bend easily.brighty wrote:So if you are using the factory drag link it shouldn't be hitting the stops then right???
