Hey All,
We'll its finally happened. Hanging around a bunch of Toyota Driving *&46wits has had its effect. I am now the proud owner of a set of Extreme Trekkers @ 35.5 inches.
They are on!!!
Installation Steps:
- Remove plastic inner guards
- Torsion bars wound up. Approx 1.5 inches.
- Cut front wheel arches out by approx 2 inches on back and front. Work off the top arc and aim for a 2 inch extension at each end.
- Cut out metal under headlights and beat back with mallett as far as possible.
- Bash back metal ridge on the back of the inner arch (near footwell) as far as possible (be gentle!)
- Cover cut metal with rust retardant and paint.
- Add set of flexy flares. (Front & back - about $120)
- Add rear spring packers @30mm. (Cruiser spring packers from Pro-comp @ $80)
- Put tyres on and drive around with a huge grin on your face
Job done. Pics below.
(Recommendation: Get a set of rock crawler gears before even dreaming of putting these tyres on. Otherwise you'll be a rocket sled downhill. We've taken it for a spin in low range with the 35's & crawlers and its ok.)
Go Paj

Ok to answer the questions.
Tim - No, but I don't imagine the traction will be too different to the mongrels.
J-top - no problems with travel....due to guard love
NC - No, too bloody hard.
Car is currently sitting on the sidelines a bit disabled due to a broken hub. Also need to do the rear bearings.
Now, I have searched HIGH & LOW for a fricking Aisin manual hub and nobody (and I mean nobody) that I have gotten onto has them. I have called over 30 wreckers and recyclers from melbourne to Frankston to Ballarat.
If anyone knows where I can get a set, shout the fawk out
(Don't want another set of avm's).
