big wheels balancing act? HELP?

Hey Dudes, I have 36" MT Baja claws on 15x10 alloy rims, and the local garage that put them on had trouble balancing them. Now the old 40 tries to shake itself to death when decellerating around 40 to 60km/h.
I while ago I read that lead shot in the tyre could balance it when it builds up speed.
Has anyone done this successfully and:
How much lead shot should I use?
What size lead balls?
Will it damage my alloy rims?
Does it work?

I use the Autobalance in my GQ and it helped heaps, where sometimes I couldn't drive at 60-70 klms without shaking off the road, particularly after a drive in the mud, with the autobalance all I get is a mild shimmy that is no worse than a slight brake shudder from warped discs at about 60 klms. I recon if I replaced my trashed pan hard rod bushes it would be better again.

lead shot is abrasive, will damage the inside of your tyre eventually

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.
I'll go the autobalance I think. Should I attempt to have them conventionally ballanced at a tyre shop with a machine big enough for truck wheels first, or is the autobalance silica stuff so good I shouldn't bother?

You need to get the tyres as good as they get on the rim without weights, by turning the tyre on the rim. Don't put weights on as the autobalance does the job and compensates for mud and crap, weights tend to get knocked off too.

I dont see why not but it'll be a bitch to pour it in past the valve, I normally chuck it straight in the tyre.

Magunum can be used with tubes in the same way it works in a tubeless tyre. As Joel said the difficulty lies in getting it in. It will pour in thru the valve but time will become your friend. There are some less conventional methods of inserting it in tubes involving patches and glue.
